Brist is a small place situated on the southernmost part of the Makarska Riviera, only 40km far from the city of Makarska. The place is situated between the sea and the mountain of Biokovo and stretches along the sea shore. Only the name Brist originates from the birch tree (Ulmaceae), dating back to 1571. but the settlement is much older as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds.
The population has long been engaged in fisheries and agriculture, and recently in tourism. From the historical sights you can see the medieval stećak in the form of a casket (located in an old village, above today's settlement), the baroque church of Sv. Margarite (built in the 15th century, there is an apse that contains the tombstones of the Kačić family), the Church of Saint Anthony (it is located along the coast and was built in 1807, there is a great picture of Our Lady of St. Anthony and St. John), the complex of Miošić and Diana houses (from the 18th century, protected cultural monuments) and other historical monuments.
Brist is suitable for a vacation in peace and quiet on the beautiful pebble beaches, in a true Dalmatian atmosphere, close to the largest tourist centers. Sports and active vacation lovers can enjoy football, volleyball, basketball, cycling, running and various water sports
