After a year of silence, 2021 marked our return, with renewed energy, open hearts, and the spirit of a new beginning. The theme of that year’s KIPAR sculpture school could not have been more fitting: 𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗡𝘂𝗼𝘃𝗮 / 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲. 🌱✨

It wasn’t just about life itself, but the deep, creative urge to feel, to shape, to reconnect. The works of 𝗥𝘂𝘇̌𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰, 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗰́𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗰́, 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗸𝗼 𝗗𝗿𝘇̌𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘃 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗰́ were more than sculptures, they were quiet awakenings, reflections of inner journeys.

Art lives in all of us, and when something inside you reaches for color, form or movement, that’s your new life calling, so listen carefully 🥰

We're continuing our short but incredibly intense and creative journey with the 𝗞𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 held in 2019. We’re sure that 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗮 would be proud to see young artists picking up where he left off, breathing new life into stone and creating works that now enrich Brtonigla and its surroundings. 🪨✨

This year, we're excited to take things a step further by enhancing the 𝗖𝗖 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, but more on that very soon! 😉

In the meantime, take a moment to reflect on the inspiring work of these talented students. Some of these pieces, along with brand new creations, will be on display at the 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 of the Cultural Center on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟴𝘁𝗵. Don’t miss it!

This fall, Croatia will write a new page in the history of the world-renowned cycling event – Eroica is coming to Croatia for the first time! 🎊🎈🎊 On September 21, Istria will play host to the spectacular event NOVA Eroica Istria – Truffle Tour, a unique gravel bicycle tour which will blend sports, nature and culinary delights. 🎊-----------

The first Croatian NOVA Eroica will take place in the northwest of Istria, riding through the most beautiful part of the region – along the Parenzana route, through Brtonigla, Buje, Crveni Vrh, Kanegra, Grožnjan, Oprtalj, Livade and Motovun, while Novigrad will be the focal point of the event. 🌅🌄🌅

Three-day festival of cycling, nature and taste offers three routes – something for everybody:

We had the pleasure of welcoming 𝗝𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹, journalist for the Daily Mail, to Brtonigla! 🌿🚴‍♀️

She explored our scenic vineyards and charming villages on an e-bike, tasted artisanal cheese and fine spirits at 𝗢𝗣𝗚 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘀̌𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰́, and enjoyed a delightful visit to Cattunar Wine Residence, spending nearly two hours savoring wines grown on Brtonigla’s unique four types of soil, perfectly paired with local prosciutto, cheese, and olive oil. 🍷🧀🌱

To top off her journey, we dropped her off at the stunning San Rocco - Boutique Hotel, where she’ll be experiencing the very best of Istria’s boutique hospitality, relaxation and fine dining in perfect harmony.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗥 🎨🪨

In Brtonigla, where a former slaughterhouse once stood, the Aleksandar Rukavina Memorial Gallery (now the 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗮) was built in 1989. It holds the legacy of Rukavina, an artist, professor and founder of Grožnjan, the town of artists, through a collection of intimate sculptures from the 1960s to 1980s.

KIPAR, short (in Croatian) for the Sculpture School Aleksandar Rukavina, was founded in 2018 to revitalize the gallery and celebrate Rukavina’s work. Each summer, students shape stone into art under the guidance of sculptor 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰́, with artistic direction from 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗶𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶.
