Dubrovnik ❤

Walking along these walls is balm for the soul (outside of the summer heat, that is!)

This impressive series of defensive stone walls was built in the outlying areas of Dubrovnik (including the mountain slopes) as part of a set of statues from 1272. The existing walls as we know them today were primarily constructed during the 13th–17th centuries.

Refugees from destroyed towns such as Epidaurus (now Cavtat) fled to what would become the defensive settlement of Dubrovnik ( later known as Ragusa) which would become a refuge.
