One of the questions I get asked most is, “How far in advance should I be planning?”
If you’re thinking about travel over the next 12–18 months, here’s what I’d be thinking about…
• Holiday travel: If Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s is on your radar, now’s the time to start making plans. The best hotels, villas, and guides are often the first to book up.
• Fall getaways: One of my favorite seasons to travel. Many destinations still have beautiful weather, fewer crowds, and a more relaxed pace.
• Bucket-list trips for 2027: If a safari, Japan, Patagonia, or another once-in-a-lifetime trip has been on your list, I’d start the conversation sooner rather than later. Many of these itineraries are best planned 9–12 months in advance.
Planning ahead doesn’t mean having every detail figured out. Sometimes it just means getting the conversation started.
What’s the next trip you’ve been dreaming about?
