Fishing tradition, passed from one generation to the next 🩵

In Fažana, fishing is more than a memory of the past. It is part of the town’s character — from batane rocking in the harbour and nets being mended by hand, to the pilchard that has found its place on local tables for generations.

The Small Fishing Academy Pilchard keeps this heritage alive through events such as School of Salting Pilchard, Sea at the Table, Things that Fishermen Know and Rhapsody in Blue, while Traditional Evenings at the waterfront bring fishing skills and workshops to the heart of summer.

It is a tradition to be tasted, touched, learned and shared — with the sea always at the heart of it.

As part of the Fažana Twilights concert cycle, Trio Kamov performed for the first time in Fažana, bringing together violinist Anton Kyrylov, cellist Giovanni Genovese and pianist Juraj-Markо Žerovnik.

The programme featured works by Massimo Brajković, Luka Rovis and Franz Schubert, including Schubert’s celebrated Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat major, D. 929.

Founded in Rijeka in 2021, Trio Kamov is named after the Croatian avant-garde writer Janko Polić Kamov. The ensemble performs both classical masterpieces and works by Croatian composers, with a special interest in bringing new music to audiences.

On September 12th SS Cosmas and Damian Square was filled with traditional costumes, music and dance as folklore groups came together to share their heritage in a celebration of culture, tradition and community.
