Things people get wrong about Korčula 👇
❌“It’s a day trip from Dubrovnik.”
Could it be? Sure. But should it be? Not if you actually want to experience the island.
Korčula isn’t a quick photo stop. It’s vineyard roads through Lumbarda, slow seafood lunches in Žrnovo, swimming in hidden bays, wandering the old town after the day trippers leave, local wine at golden hour, and tiny inland villages most visitors never even hear about.
If you only come for a few hours, you’re seeing the postcard, not the island.
❌“You need a car.”
Not necessarily.
Korčula Town is extremely walkable, and if you’re staying nearby, you can get surprisingly far without one. Taxis exist, water taxis in summer are useful, bikes are popular, and if your goal is wine tasting, a car is actually the worst idea.
We spend half our lives explaining why nobody should be designated-driving through Pošip country.
❌ “You have to like wine.”
This one makes us laugh.
Yes, we’re Korčula Wine Tours. But some of our favourite guests are the ones who come for the island, not the wine.
Maybe one person in your group loves wine and the others care more about viewpoints, local food, history, hidden beaches, olive oil, or just being shown around by people who actually live here.
We love a group with variety.
We can tailor experiences around families, non-drinkers, food lovers, curious travellers, and people who just want a really good day without figuring out logistics.
A few more local truths while we’re here:
✨Korčula Town before 10am and after 6pm feels like a different place
✨Pupnat and Čara deserve way more attention than they get
✨Some of the best swimming is nowhere near the obvious beaches
Korčula is one of those places that gets better the more local your recommendations are.
