Long before I was helping others plan incredible journeys around the world, I was out discovering how deeply travel could change a person. ❤️🌍

Volunteering in Tanzania opened my eyes in ways I never expected. The joy, warmth, resilience, and love from these children was something that stayed with me long after I returned home. We may not have spoken the same language, but somehow none of that mattered. Laughter, smiles, and human connection have a way of translating perfectly.

And sweet Anna… ❤️ she left a mark on my heart that I will never forget.

Experiences like this are why I believe travel is so much more than vacations and bucket lists. It has the power to shift perspectives, create lifelong memories, and connect us to people and places we never would have known otherwise.

These moments will forever hold a special place in my heart. ✨

Apparently when you walk with elephants… you move on elephant time. 🐘😂

No rushing, no stress, just wandering through the jungle hoping your oversized new friend decides to keep walking in the same direction. Honestly? Kind of a life lesson. 🌿

One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had while traveling! These are the moments that make a trip unforgettable. ✈️

One of the most fascinating experiences in Istria was visiting a family-owned olive oil producer and learning the entire process behind what many consider some of the best olive oils in the world. 🫒✨

What made this experience so special was seeing both the original machinery once used to process the olives alongside the newer modern equipment used today. Walking through the old production rooms felt like stepping back in time and gave such an appreciation for how much labor and tradition goes into every bottle.

We also learned how to properly taste olive oils — something I never realized was such an art. From recognizing fruity notes to the peppery finish and smoothness, every oil had completely different characteristics depending on the olives and processing methods.

What impressed me most is that this family-owned company still harvests their olives by hand to this day. When harvest season arrives, they hire local pickers and do not use machines on the trees, keeping the process traditional and focused on quality over mass production.

Between the olive oil tasting, local wines, truffles, cheeses, and incredible hospitality, Istria completely won me over as one of Europe’s best foodie destinations.

My first view of Ljubljana was looking up and seeing the beautiful Ljubljana Castle sitting high above the city… and somehow it only got better from there. 🇸🇮✨

As we made our way down toward the river, the city completely came alive with outdoor cafés, bridges, musicians, glowing lights, and one of the most welcoming atmospheres I’ve experienced in Europe.

Ljubljana may be one of the most underrated capitals in Europe. It’s clean, walkable, full of history, and has such a relaxed energy that instantly makes you want to slow down and enjoy it.

The castle itself dates back to the 11th century and overlooks the charming Old Town and river below, creating one of the most picturesque city settings I’ve seen.

Slovenia honestly exceeded every expectation I had.

If you are looking for a European destination that feels authentic, scenic, and less crowded, this country should absolutely be on your radar.

If you love truffles, Motovun is basically heaven. 🍄✨

Located in the Istria region of Croatia, Motovun is known as one of the truffle capitals of the world, especially famous for its rare white truffles found in the forests surrounding the hilltop town. Truffle hunting is a huge part of the culture here, with specially trained dogs searching through the woods for these culinary treasures.

And yes… I may have gone a little overboard. 😂

I bought truffles in just about every form possible — truffle oil, truffle butter, truffle cheese, truffle spreads, sauces, and of course enjoyed fresh shaved truffles over homemade pasta while in the region.

The food throughout Croatia and Slovenia honestly surprised me just as much as the scenery did. Between the wine, olive oils, seafood, pasta, and truffles, this area is becoming one of my favorite food destinations in Europe.

If you are a foodie traveler, Istria absolutely deserves a spot on your bucket list.

One of the most incredible places I visited in Slovenia was Predjama Castle — the world’s largest cave castle built directly into the side of a 400-foot cliff. 🏰⛰️

Dating back over 800 years, Predjama Castle looks like something straight out of a fantasy movie. Hidden within the cliffs are caves and secret passageways that were once used during battles and sieges. Standing here in person honestly doesn’t even feel real.

One of the things I loved most about Slovenia was how untouched and authentic so many places still feel. Between the mountains, caves, castles, lakes, and charming cities, this country completely surprised me in the best possible way.

If you are looking for somewhere different in Europe that combines history, scenery, and adventure without the overwhelming crowds of some larger destinations, Slovenia deserves a spot on your list.

Reach out to me if you’d like help planning a Croatia, Slovenia, or Northern Italy itinerary — this region is truly amazing to experience together.

One thing I try to do almost everywhere I travel? Try the local beer. 🍺🌍

There’s something fun about sitting down after a long day of exploring and tasting something that locals have been drinking for generations. This one was in Slovenia at Hotel Jama near the famous Predjama Castle — the incredible castle built directly into the side of a cliff.

I was trying Laško, one of Slovenia’s most well-known beers, which has been brewed since the 1800s. Slovenia actually has a surprisingly strong beer and wine culture for such a small country, and I love how food and drinks can tell so much about a destination’s history and traditions.

I always think little traditions while traveling make trips even more memorable.

Do you have something you always do when you travel?
Try local beer or wine? Collect magnets? Take cooking classes? Find hidden cafés? I’d love to hear everyone’s travel traditions!

Standing along the ancient city walls of Dubrovnik watching the boats drift across the Adriatic Sea is one of those moments that truly stays with you. 🇭🇷⚓

Known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik dates back to the 7th century and became one of the Mediterranean’s most important maritime republics. The massive stone walls surrounding the Old Town were built over centuries to protect the city and today remain one of the best-preserved medieval fortification systems in the world.

The contrast of the bright blue water against the historic limestone walls is absolutely stunning in person and easy to see why this city has become one of Europe’s most iconic destinations.

Croatia completely exceeded my expectations and is truly one of the most beautiful countries I’ve explored.

Thinking about Croatia, Slovenia, or Northern Italy for a future trip? Reach out to me and let’s start planning your own Adriatic adventure.

Walking directly over the waterfalls at Plitvice Lakes National Park felt almost unreal 😲!

Founded as Croatia’s first National Park in 1949 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Plitvice is famous for it’s cascading turquoise lakes, wooden pathways, and over 90 waterfalls flowing through limestone canyons and lush forest.

We were especially lucky to experience the waterfalls at such a powerful flow after recent heavy rains and even late-season snow in the region. The sound of the rushing water and the mist rising through the park made the entire experience feel incredibly alive.

Photos and videos do not capture the beauty of this place in person.

If Croatia has been on your bucket list, this destination absolutely deserves a spot on your itinerary.
