Have you ever taken a ride on a Pletna boat across Lake Bled, Slovenia?

One of my favorite ways to experience Lake Bled is aboard a traditional wooden Pletna boat, gliding across the emerald-green water with the Julian Alps as your backdrop and a beautiful little island waiting in the distance. 💚

These unique boats have been part of Lake Bled's history for centuries! They're steered by a standing oarsman using a special rowing technique, a tradition passed down through generations.

The destination? Beautiful Bled Island, where you can climb the famous 99 stone steps and ring the wishing bell at the church. Legend says your wish just might come true! 🔔✨

Slovenia is one of those destinations that deserves a spot on everyone's European bucket list. From breathtaking lakes and mountains to charming villages and outdoor adventures, it's a nature lover's paradise!

🇲🇽 There’s always more to a destination than what you see at first glance.

I spotted this beautiful Catrina, named “Luz,” while visiting Moon Palace Cancun. 💀💙 Her design brings together two pieces of Mexican culture — the iconic Catrina associated with Día de Mu***os and the gorgeous blue-and-white style associated with Talavera pottery from Puebla.

It’s little discoveries like this that make wandering around a resort or destination so interesting. You stop for a photo…and end up learning a little something about the culture along the way. ❤️🇲🇽

✨ Now THIS is a chandelier!

One of the things I love about traveling is discovering the unexpected details that make a resort memorable — and this one definitely stopped me in my tracks!

I took this photo at The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun, where this enormous glass-blown chandelier hangs above the lobby bar. The installation was designed to resemble an underwater coral reef, complete with hundreds of glowing glass pieces and beautiful glass jellyfish. 🪼✨ It became one of the signature features of The Grand following the resort's major transformation and reopening in 2017.

Photos honestly don't do justice to the size and detail of this piece. It's part chandelier, part sculpture and absolutely a work of art.

And this is exactly why I love personally visiting resorts whenever I can. There are things you simply can't learn from a brochure or website — seeing and experiencing a property myself helps me better match my clients with the right vacation. 🌴✈️

🍜 Eating my way through Kyoto! 🇯🇵

One of my favorite ways to experience a destination is through its food, and Japan definitely did not disappoint! This was a local meal I enjoyed while exploring Kyoto — noodles, a bubbling hot pot, rice, dumplings and all the little accompaniments that make Japanese meals such an experience.

When I travel, I always try to eat local, drink local, and experience the culture beyond the typical tourist spots. Sometimes you may not know exactly what everything is — but that’s half the fun! 😂

Food is such a huge part of travel for me, and these are the little experiences I love helping my clients discover too. ❤️🌏

🍺 When in Taiwan…try the local b**r! 🇹🇼

One of my favorite parts of traveling is trying the local food and drinks wherever I go. I’m always curious about what people eat, what they drink, and the flavors that are unique to that destination.

While exploring the Yangmingshan area of Taiwan, we stopped at Tien Lai Resort & Spa, where of course I had to try their local Tien Lai b**r. 🍻 At 5% alcohol, it was an easy one to sample after a day of exploring the volcanic landscapes of Yangmingshan.

Whether it’s b**r in Taiwan, w**e in Croatia, rum in the Caribbean, sake in Japan, or something I’ve never even heard of before — I’m going to try it! 😂 To me, food and drinks are part of experiencing a destination, not just visiting it.

And that's something I love incorporating into the trips I plan for my clients, too. Don't just go somewhere — taste it, experience it, and get a little outside your comfort zone.

This was me exploring Xiaoyoukeng in Yangmingshan National Park, Taiwan 🇹🇼, during a cruise stop. Behind me are active fumaroles where steam and volcanic gases rise right out of the mountainside. And yes…the sulfur smell lets you know you’re somewhere pretty incredible! 😂

These are the kinds of experiences I love finding when I travel — getting off the ship, venturing beyond the port, and actually experiencing the destination.
