Trsat Castle landmark:

🏛️ The Mythological Guardian

• The Design: The creature is a mythical combination of a dragon, rooster, and serpent.
• The Artist: It was sculpted by the famous Austrian artist Anton Dominik Fernkorn in the 19th century.
• The Purpose: The statue stands directly in front of the "Mir junaka" (Peace of Heroes) mausoleum, which was built by the Austrian Count and military commander Laval Nugent after he purchased and restored the castle in the 1820s. The dragon holds a coat of arms and serves as a symbolic guardian of the tomb.
