Thousand Islands Race

Sailing Club of Rijeka and Porto Montenegro Yacht Club announced a new race along the Croatian coast, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. This regatta will be held for the first time since 19 to 28 September this year. The art is to choose sailing along the coast or at sea, and also to consider the other facts crucial to catch the goal before the others.

The new event will have two stages, the first stage, which starts in Rijeka 21.09., includes visiting the islands: Unije, Susak, Premuda, Long Island, Kornati, Vis, Lastovo and Mljet and ending in the new marina Porto Montenegro in Tivat. The entire route will count about 300 miles, with the need to obay the technical challenges of the demanding navigation. For the race can register boats longer than 9 yards and with stability index more than 110.

Sailors from Russia

In the first half of this year there was an increase in arrivals of boaters, and has increased the number of charters of yachts, boats, catamarans and motor yachts in the Adriatic. This is a figure which is higher than the previous year. Charter companies have ended the month of July with more than 32.000 leases. At this point in the information system of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure (the e-Crew) there is recorded 1815 charter companies. In the same period, on the Adriatic there has been 19.210 sailors, an increase of 2.3 percent compared to last year.

A significant increase was recorded among sailors and guests from Sweden, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the U.S. and Russia. Only sailors from Russia this year has been almost 1.000 more than last year, while last year recorded number was 5000 sailors from this country. At the same time, there was a decrease in arrivals of boaters from Slovenia, Germany and Italy. The concentration of the other guests was more or less similar to last year.
