Šibenik is the oldest native Croatian town and a pearl of the Adriatic coast. With its historic fortresses and two UNESCO World Heritage sites it is a perfect travel destination. Placed in the central Dalmatia it has two national parks, Krka and Kornati, in the vicinity. Its history and beautiful nature together with summer music festivals and gastronomic events make a holistic cultural and hedonistic Mediterranean experience.
Destination is located in the picturesque bay where the beautiful river Krka enters the sea. A town with about 47 000 inhabitants is the administrative, political, economic, social and cultural center of the County of Šibenik and Knin - which extends between the Zadar and Split Rivieras. Šibenik has the status of a town since 1167 and a rich history afterwards.
Its 15th century St. James’ Cathedral is unique in the European architecture. Šibenik is characterised by The Ottoman Empire attacks in 16th and 17th century, when the St. Nicholas Fortress and the Fortresses of St. John and Barone where built.
