Did you know that one of Dubrovnik’s most unusual views is not a church, palace or tower, but a basketball court?
Hidden below Minčeta and surrounded by stone walls, the court at Peline is one of those details that makes Dubrovnik feel so real. From the City Walls, it almost looks unreal: red rooftops, the Adriatic in the background and a small local playground placed between centuries of history.
This spot has even been named by Architectural Digest as one of the best designed basketball courts in the world. But what makes it even more interesting is what lies nearby. Archaeological research in the Gornji Ugao Tower area uncovered a late medieval foundry, once used for metalwork and the production of weapons.
So next time you walk the Walls, take a moment to look down. Dubrovnik is full of famous views, but this one tells a different story: local life, history and one seriously cool court in the middle of it all. 🏀
