📜 Invitation to the Navigator’s Log

A navigator is not the one steering the boat.

His role is different.

First, to understand where we are —
in the world, among people, sometimes also in our own lives.

Then to choose a direction worth sailing towards.

A navigator rarely has the full map.
The sea doesn’t work that way.

But a good navigator knows how to find a safe course
towards the place he wants to reach.

For some time now, I’ve been thinking about creating a place to write down thoughts like these.

Something like a logbook from the journey — but instead of coordinates on a chart, it holds stories from the sea and from projects that grow somewhere in between voyages.

That’s how Navigator’s Log was born.

An occasional newsletter I send from time to time — more like a letter from the deck than a typical marketing email.

Inside you might find:

⚓ reflections from the sea and from sailing journeys
⚓ behind the scenes of building my sailing yacht
⚓ stories and moments from the sailing world
⚓ invitations to voyages and Nexus projects

No spam and no constant emails.
Just a letter from time to time, when there’s something worth writing down in the logbook.

If you’d like to receive one of these letters from the sea, you can join here:

On IG when you cannot click the post, I made an automation: comment LINK to get it on dm, small letters are ok too!

Day 8
A passage to Fuertaventura

On this day we started with a little delay at noon. The weather became lovely. Last two days it was quite windy, thus we decided to stay a bit longer in Grand Canaria, but now - it was perfect weather for sailing. The passage took 12 hours, so we arrived just before midnight. How was it during the passage? Have a look at the photos and videos!

How do you react to waves? Calm, sleepy or in technicolor?

Day 7
Evening in Maspalomas

Most of the day I've decided to spend busy.. resting. In the late afternoon I went for a walk by the shore to Maspalomas. There was no path there, but after a short call to one of my friends from the crew, I've got the confirmation: "You shall pass!", and so my journey bagun.

The shoreline was diverse. Town became a beach, beach became cliffs with loose medium-sided stones, then a path that became a Riva. On the way I had a meeting with a bird and found a golf ball, probably from the local golf club.

Following the Riva through the town I arrived to the dunes - my destination for the evening. The sand was warm and it was a little windy. About one hour before the sunset I found a place with a good view. The particles of sand were being carried everywhere, but it gave me an idea! Let's see how the wind flows around obstacles - similarly how it does around high volcanic islands of the Canarias.

After my little experiment, I enjoyed one of the most beautiful sunsets this year. Later I met up with two friends from the crew and we wend to have some light meal together - tapas in restaurant Oasis. The food was very good and soon after we took a seat, the live music started. We managed to not stuff ourselves too much, but once we were full, there was time for an ice-cream and later we had a night walk to the marina in a path close to the road. It was a beautiful night, the stars and the moon were our guides.

Day 6
A meeting in Las Palmas

On that day, we rented cars. Everyone went to Las Palmas Oceanarium, but I felt that another place was calling me. I started walking, first I reached a place with tapas and then searched for a cafe in the Happy Cow app.

Results I checked with Google maps and the cafe of my choice seemed closed, but on the way there were two other cafe's. One of them looked attractive with a cinnamon roll smiling at me from the photo.

First cafe had outdoor seating, but it was loud and busy. Second - attracted me enough to enter. The cinnamon roll was there. Tables were mostly empty. Someone with a laptop and two more people in the corner, who seemed to just have entered as well. I chose a table in between and while sitting I heard that the pair was Polish as well. As usual I decided to greet them.
..

We have talked for almost 2 hours. During the first few minutes we shared our plans for the island and the rest of the time we talked about life, God and self development. Coffee was disappearing rapidly and my almond croissant just vanished. It appeared that we were also heading the same way, so after saying goodbyes in the cafe, we spent another 20 mins talking. Next I arrived at the New Year's market in Las Palmas, which you can see in this post.

Day 5
New Year

New year started with an interesting conversation about maths, philosophy and not only. After a short break to sleep, we arrived on Gran Canara, 6 hours before the strong wind that was forecasted. First marina with a place for us that we managed to book: Pasito Blanco, just next to Maspalomas.

After arrival, we tidied the boat and I took another nap. In the evening, we met our neighbour: Natalia, she mentioned that she arrived just about 10 mins before us. She shared with us her "sailor stories" and that she lives on a yacht just with her cat, which as a cat knew where to be and in which direction to meow.

We stayed 3 nights in this marina.

Dzień 4
New year's eve near El Hierro

We "sailed" the whole night. It was calm, relaxing, anything like the previous passage. That's because we had the following waves, which dispersed behind the island, but also the wind was nowhere to be found. A while before reaching Puerto del La Estaca, we felt some wind from the bow. We arrived according to the plan at 0900.

During the breakfast we decided to depart again at 1500, but before that "Let's explore El Hierro". The island I've managed to visit only during my 4th visit in the Canarias.

The town Villa de Valverde is located to the north from the port. We had to take taxis as the bus departed not long ago and the next one was just too late if we wanted to depart according to the plan. At first, we went to the cafe with an ocean. On the table you could see not only coffee, but also flavoured tequila: strawberry and coffee.

After the coffee break, we had a little stroll around the town, pictures, shopping and we were gone before most of the town noticed our presence. At 1503 we were all onboard with all hands on deck ready to depart. It was our first day of true sailing, with both sails up.

We greeted the New Year somewhere south between La Gomera and La Palma, sailing and then I noticed that in my pocket were the boat keys. Is it luck? Or maybe destiny.

Day 3
Canarias 2026

The morning was slow, but so promising..

"Gather up! We're leaving in 10 min!" My crew decided to explore all the northern and central side of La Palma.

My plan?
Have a restful sleep, get up ready to action, my goals for today:
1. Go for the run
2. Meditate
3. Book the marina for the next day
4. Get ready for the night passage to El Hierro. Departure at 2200 hours

I went for a run in the middle of the day and by accidend I did half day fasting. After half a year break, I was quite surprised how nicely I felt when running. I felt lighter than imagined. Managed to do 2.5km. 3 series of a run alternating with a fast paced walk before deciding for a longer break in a random cafe. Photos and videos I also did on the fly. When I begun running two years ago with a group we started with 3 circles: 200m run + 200m fast walk. Daily we added one circle until we reached 5km. I wonder.. when I will run again? Hopefull on one if the next islands!

It was my third visit on La Palma.
The first one I forgot, as I had fever. The second time we were driving around the northern and central part not so long after vulcano eruption. The third one was the most relaxing, not counting 2 hours driving through mountanous serpentines only to arrive to the just closed 20 mins ago view point and from warm 21 degreea it dropped to 5.

The city of Santa Cruz was getting ready for New Year's Eve. Riva was closed for the cars and the stages were being set up. Similarly like in my hometown - Szczecin - when was the celebrations of the sea. While running, I was absorbing the view and smell of the ocean. Destination? A ship that looked like from the era of columbus. I wandered around a bit, testing a few alleys, got a few photos and finally rested in a cafe. Once seated, I ordered a juice asked what kind of desserts I can have that does not contain milk. I could choose one of options:
1. Small jar of something that was sweet and with pieces if almonds.
So I chose option 1. The taste surprised me as it resembled condensed milk! Yum!

The sun slowly rolled over the mountans to the other side of the island and the day was about to be finished, for us it was just the begining.

One of the best sunrise I've seen in my life.
The sun rose up from the top of the mountain Teide and sprinkled whole mountain with rays like a golden dust.

Day 1
We rested well after yesterday's whole day of traveling. That's important before doing longer passage. We woke up, had a solid breakfast, did all checks and got ready to go.

Look at how stunning views we had!

Festive days are to celebrate.
Do you celebrate your life daily?

Regardless of your faith or nationality,
We all love celebrating.
Birthdays, success or tradition.
With family, friends or
Just alone with coffee and cake.
To give ourselves time to breathe
And admire the environment that we're in.

Remember to celebrate, to feel joy and happiness.

The magic of the festive days comes from within and its our choice if they become our daily life.

Let's celebrate while we can.
Celebrate life, experience and let's share those feelings with those around us.

Mau the festive times be with you.
