travellers. Each of four colours stands for a specific feature of Northwestern Istria. The blue colour represents wellness and sea - www.coloursofistria.com/wellness-and-sea, signalling the abundance of sea, sun and beaches to be found in the region, as well as nautical tourism and wellness hotels. Orange stands for sport - www.coloursofistria.com/sport, unveiling the appeal of Northwestern Istria in the realm of active vacation, due to numerous investments in sports facilities and events. Green is the colour of nature and camping - www.coloursofistria.com/nature-and-camping, a popular theme for modern travellers, fans of camping and unspoiled nature, as well as families in search of a healthy environment. Art never fades—it continues to inspire. 🎨✨
Aleksandar Rukavina, a visionary sculptor, left behind a legacy that still lives in Brtonigla. His Memorial Gallery, opened in 1989, has now evolved into a Cultural Center (2024), preserving his works and those of fellow artists. 🏛

With over 60 sculptures on display and a newly established Kip-AR Sculpture School, the center is a place of creativity, education, and artistic expression. 🖌

Once the center of decision-making, justice, and celebrations, Oprtalj’s loggia has seen it all. Built in the 16th century, it later became a courtroom until the fall of Venice. Today, it houses a lapidarium with stone fragments from different eras and offers one of the best views stretching all the way to the sea.

Every region has its own lingo — and Istria is full of gems like “ćemo ben” promises (that never happen 😄). These expressions carry the spirit of the region 👇🏼

🔸 Žbrufador – A watering can!
🔸 Bićerin – A small glass of something strong — usually rakija.
🔸 Oštarija – A classic local tavern
🔸 Forši – Maybe, possibly
🔸 Čin-čin – An Istrian version of a toast! Equivalent of “cheers!”
