🌊 Interreg Blueconnect: From project results to lasting cooperation

The final conference of our BLUECONNECT project was held in Kotor, bringing together more than 100 representatives from research, academia, business and public institutions from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The event showcased the project’s key achievements in strengthening cooperation and innovation in the blue economy, including the new Blue Growth Digital Collaboration Platform and three specialised centres supporting aquaculture, fisheries and freshwater fish processing.

The conference also presented regional Blue Growth and market analyses, as well as a pilot study focused on monitoring the early life stages of fish and shellfish. 🐟

But the end of the project is also a new beginning. The South Adriatic Blue Growth Cluster and newly signed cooperation agreements will help continue and expand the partnerships created through BLUECONNECT.

📍 Implementation Workshops for the 2nd Call for Proposals successfully held!

Over the past weeks, we had the pleasure of meeting project partners from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro at implementation workshops held in Doboj, Vinkovci, Budva and Mostar.

The workshops provided an opportunity to discuss key aspects of project implementation, clarify practical questions, exchange experiences and provide practical guidance on topics such as project management and reporting, JEMS, communication and visibility, public procurement and financial management.

🙏 Thank you to all participants for your active participation, engagement and valuable contributions!

We are looking forward to continuing our cooperation and supporting the successful implementation of projects funded under the 2nd Call for Proposals.

♻️ Our RECIRCLE project at the Street Food Festival in Podgorica

On 17 September, our RECIRCLE project was presented at the Street Food Festival in Podgorica, attracting around 1,000 visitors.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about responsible waste management, including separate waste collection, recycling, reuse and reducing food waste.

🌱 Promotional and educational materials were also shared, bringing practical information on responsible waste management closer to the local community.

Through RECIRCLE, our partners are working to strengthen awareness that waste is not simply something to be discarded, but a resource that can be reused, recycled or returned to the production cycle.

💚 Together, we are supporting cleaner communities and a more circular future.

🌊 Our Mowaclim project monitors the Neretva Valley

Drought, low water levels and seawater intrusion are reshaping the Neretva Valley, affecting local agriculture and biodiversity.

Through our MoWaCLIM project, surface and groundwater are continuously monitored to assess the impacts of climate change.

💧 Two monitoring stations in the Hutovo Blato area now track key water parameters, including salinity, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen.

🌱 The project also monitors the effects on agriculture, with temperatures in mandarin orchards reaching 42°C or higher, causing sunburn damage and reducing fruit market value.

EmBRACE project featured in Small Projects, Big Journeys 🤩

We are proud to share that our project – Enhancing MSEs Sustainable Growth and Competitiveness has been featured in the new Interact publication Small Projects, Big Journeys: Exploring Europe through Interreg Small Projects.

As an example from the Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro programme area, EmBRACE is presented as an innovative approach to supporting micro and small enterprises in taking their first steps towards cross-border cooperation.

The publication highlights how EmBRACE turns cross-border business ideas into practical pilot actions – from developing new products and services to testing solutions and exploring new markets. By reducing barriers and supporting manageable, business-driven projects, EmBRACE helps enterprises share knowledge, resources and expertise across borders.

Happy Interreg Cooperation Day! 🎉

Today, we celebrate 15 years of Interreg Cooperation – a milestone marking Europe’s dedicated efforts to boost cross-border collaboration and unity.

👉 Under the inspiring banner "Stronger Together – 15 years of shared effort," we highlight how EU-funded cross-border and transnational projects are making a real difference in everyday regional life, enhancing public services, and promoting sustainability across borders.

🌊 Let's take a moment to remember how we celebrated this special day last week in Cavtat! Together with students from local elementary schools and our community, we showcased six important projects focused on preserving the sea, protecting drinking water, and safeguarding the beautiful Adriatic coast. Because climate change knows no borders, and together, we face it stronger. 🌍💙

Stronger together in protecting the sea, drinking water and the coast 🌊💧

Around one hundred students from the “Cavtat” and “Gruda” primary schools, along with local residents, gathered on the Cavtat waterfront in Croatia, as part of the Interreg Cooperation Day celebration.

👉 Through an interactive presentation of six Interreg projects, participants had the opportunity to learn how European funding and cross-border cooperation contribute to the preservation of natural resources and the quality of life in local communities.

✅ Particular emphasis was placed on the protection of the sea, drinking water and the coastline, responsible environmental management, raising awareness of the sustainable use of natural resources, and addressing the challenges that climate change poses to local communities.

🌊 Interreg Cooperation Day in Cavtat – Stronger Together! 🇪🇺

Cavtat hosted Interreg Cooperation Day, organised by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.

Around 100 students and citizens had the opportunity to discover how EU-funded projects are helping to protect the sea, drinking water and coastline and address the challenges of climate change.

🔬 Scientists presented six projects implemented through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro Programme: Blueconnect, Climbeach, Marrobo, Mowaclim, Smartwater and Waterlink.

From drones collecting data to underwater robots detecting marine pollution, students got a firsthand look at how science, EU funding and cross-border cooperation can make a difference.

🎨 The event ended with a creative workshop where the youngest participants showed, through drawings, what they had learned about protecting our environment.

💶 The Interreg VI-A IPA Programme has €118 million available for 2021–2027, with 4 strategic and 58 regular projects already contracted.
