BudaFlakes A Tour Guides' guide to Budapest! Introducing Buda*Flakes, the virtual tour guide of everything Budapest. Look for us on Youtube, and Instagram. Hi!

First episode coming this October! My name is Claudia Leporatti, and I am an Italian journalist and tour guide based in Budapest for 13 years. With this video I want to present Buda*Flakes: an initiative to give visibility to Budapest's tour guides, and to those special pieces (flakes) making Budapest a unique and complex city,
Budaflakes is a Youtube channel where special places in Budapest are p

resented by those people whose lives revolve around Budapest: mainly official tour guides, but also journalists, city experts, and Instagrammers. We will have a few special guests too! All of us had to change our lives because of the pandemic. Buda*Flakes was born during the lockdown, and created by me together with Patrizia Gatta, graphic designer and video maker, after many nights of planning. Why Buda*Flakes? Because most of the names involving the word "Budapest" were taken! We chose Buda*Flakes because in Budapest there are as many hidden gems, as many corn-flakes you can count in a family pack of cereals! We are going to publish the first round of videos in the upcoming weeks, but in the meantime, we are eager to film more and more episodes. Are interested in participating, and sharing your special flake of Budapest? Just write a message here, or email [email protected]. I hope you will like this idea, have fun watching this series, and join us for a video! :) Claudia & Patrizia

Come with me inside one of my favorite buildings in central Budapest! The Walkó House is a 1901 dwelling house by Albert Körössy, one of the most evocative architecys of the Hungarian Art Nouveau 💛. Have a lovely weekend!

Built in 1901 and designed by Albert Körössy, this dwelling house features an interpretation of the Garden of Eden on the façade. The Art Nouveau interiors a...

While the Giro d'Italia will depart from Budapest tomorrow (which is probably Friday), yesterday we went to the presentation of Giro Hungary 2022. Clearly I have no idea of what I am talking about. Thank you, anonymous friend, for the help in sorting the inexplicable rules of a simple sport made complicated by men.

[Spoiler: there are bloopers at the end, and during the whole video] The 105th edition of the Giro d'Italia will start from Hungary, a long awaited moment fo...

Once "A very feminine looking bridge, the longest single span bridge for more than 20 years" the Elisabeth Bridge is a visual evidence of how World War 2 redesigned cities. With Gabor Bihari, local tour guide, let's discover how the history of this Budapest's bridge blend with the one of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and with the beloved figure of Empress Elisabeth, Sissi. Gabor will also give us a delicious treat: the only and only kürtőskalács (chimney cake)! We bet you will want one, after checking this video! :)
Gabor Bihari is part of the soul of Budapest as we know it: not only he is a tour guide, but also the founder of Open Mic Budapest (http://www.openmicbudapest.com), a musician, and event organizer. Do you want to discover Budapest's history, food, and music scene with him? Book a tour: [email protected] or https://www.facebook.com/gabortours/

The Gutenberg Otthon (Gutenberg House) is a masterpiece of Art Nouveau designed by the Vágó brothers. Ever wondered about that big building at the end of Brody Sandor street, in the Palace Quarter of District 8th? If you noticed it, you may have asked yourself how does it look inside, and what does it contain. Discover it in this new episode of BudaFlakes, and let us know if you liked it, by giving it a thumbs up or, even better, by sharing it on your Facebook!
Looking forward to show you some more flakes of Budapest!

Come with us and have a walk with Alessandro in the charming Kerepesi Cemetery and its statues! - History buffs, here comes the video for you! The Kerepesi Cemetery is one of the places in Budapest where history can still be felt, even if we cannot really say that it still lives (sad jokes are still jokes, no?). A real arboretum with a monumental graveyard, the Kerepesi hosts different sections dedicated to special periods of Hungarian history. Alessandro, our tour guide for this , is the founder of L'Altra Budapest, "the other Budapest": as a tour guide he is specialized in showing the alternative side(s) of Budapest. His knowledge is ever more vast than Kerepesi, and with him you can hear stories and anecdotes about the Communist Era. In this video, let's discover the majestic statues from the soviet era that survive in Kerepesi (yes, another sad joke!). Alessandro speaks Italian, English, and Hungarian, and you can find him here: https://laltrabudapest.wordpress.com/
Contact: [email protected]
You can follow Alessandro on social media as well for a glimpse or the "real" Budapest:
