I recently went on vacation to Miami, and of course, I experienced a few culture shocks while I was there. I think that's pretty normal when visiting new places. One of the biggest differences between my beloved Budapest and Miami is the presence of skyscrapers. In Budapest, there's a law that bans them from being built in the inner city. The Hungarian gas company MOL does have one, but it's way out on the edge of the city. Most locals — myself included — aren't fans of it. It ruins the skyline, even if it's not always visible, thanks to Gellért Hill.
Personally, I don’t like skyscrapers in Budapest, but in other places like Miami, I don’t mind them as much. I guess I like the old buildings because of their charm, not necessarily for their practicality.
What do you prefer? Old but beautiful buildings, or new, modern buildings and skyscrapers?
