In our industry, relationships often last much longer than projects.
Back in 2018, during the WERC - Talent Everywhere conference in Seattle, a group of global mobility professionals came together to discuss the Global Employee Programme – an initiative conceived by Markus Demuth that encouraged relocation companies around the world to exchange team members and learn from one another.
We at Inter Relocation immediately loved the idea.
In 2019, our General Manager, Dominika Muzslay, spent two weeks with our friends at Relo Japan, gaining valuable insights into how relocation services are delivered on the other side of the world. We then began planning the return visit.
Then came 2020.
Like so many great initiatives,the programme was put on hold. But while the world changed, the relationships remained.
Over the years, we kept reminding our colleagues at Relo Japan that we still owed them a visit. Finally, in 2026, we were able to complete the exchange.
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Daniel Wallin from Relo Japan to Budapest. Daniel spent the week with our team, learning about our services, meeting colleagues and clients, and experiencing life in Hungary.
To make the programme even more meaningful, our colleagues at Rilvan Group Romanian Relocation joined the initiative, with Daniel continuing his journey in Bucharest this week.
What started as a conversation in Seattle eight years ago has become a wonderful reminder of what makes our profession special: trust, friendship, curiosity and a willingness to learn from one another.
