Late spring is one of the best times to explore Hungary beyond the capital – when landscapes turn green and local experiences come to life.

In , a charming lakeside town known for its scenic Old Lake and castle views, a spectacular historical festival (early June) transforms the castle area into a 16th-century battlefield, with Ottoman-era siege scenes, cannon fire and costumed soldiers bringing history to life – just 1 hour from Budapest.

In , the wine region enters its most vibrant period – weekend picnic events with open cellars, local gastronomy and live music offer an easy and relaxed half-day programme.

Spring colours just outside Budapest 🌷

If your groups are visiting Hungary in April, there is a lovely seasonal experience worth adding to their programme: a peaceful walk among thousands of blooming tulips at the National Botanical Garden of Vácrátót, only about 45–60 minutes from Budapest.

This historic landscape garden boasts Hungary’s richest collection of living plants, with romantic lakes, small bridges, hidden paths and themed botanical collections across a 27-hectare park. In spring, colourful tulip beds appear around the mansion and along the main walking routes, creating a calm yet photogenic atmosphere – ideal for leisure groups or incentive programmes looking for something beyond the capital.

📍It works perfectly as a half-day excursion from Budapest, but can also be combined with nearby destinations like Royal Palace of Gödöllő or the enchanting towns of the Danube Bend for a relaxed countryside day.

A simple nature escape that adds colour – literally – to a Hungarian itinerary.

✨ Europe Congress Budapest – where experiences meet local insight

A short look back at one of last month’s highlights:

At the beginning of March, Budapest welcomed leading MICE professionals for the Europe Congress. Continental Travel was proud to be part of this outstanding event, collaborating with other members of the Hungarian Inbound Professionals’ Association (MABEUSZ) - inbound travel agencies - to create authentic Hungarian experiences for all participants.

Guests explored iconic sights like St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Opera House, savoured kürtőskalács (chimney cake) along the way, and enjoyed a scenic Danube river cruise.

The gala at Gundel Restaurant featured an unforgettable ice sculpture show, while the dinner held at Hungexpo included lively dance performances and a creative Rubik-themed show, highlighting Hungary’s unique culture.

It was a great opportunity that Alain Pallas chose Budapest as the host destination for this event, and it was a pleasure contributing to such a memorable programme in partnership with Visit Hungary.
