This year, 27 desserts competed for the title of Cake of Lake Balaton, inspired by the flavours, colours and atmosphere of the region.

🏆 And the winner is… Kék Balaton (Blue Balaton)!

Created at the Ensana Thermal Hévíz, this dessert combines bilberry mousse, raspberry and olive oil. With its wave-inspired shape and velvety white chocolate coating, it captures the beauty of the lake in a cake.

Because Lake Balaton isn't just a place to explore. Sometimes, it's a place to taste. 💙

Sometimes it’s worth stepping off the usual tourist trail – tasting local flavours, meeting the people who make them, browsing antiques and getting a little closer to everyday life around the lake.

In the Káli Basin, the legendary Liliomkert Piac brings together local producers, artisans and antique sellers. In Fonyód, a bustling traditional market offers everything from local produce to vintage finds. Tihanyi PIAC placc mixes local delicacies with design and flea-market treasures, while in Hévíz, you can shop directly from local producers.

🇦🇹 When Lake Balaton reaches Vienna…

For the first time, Lake Balaton is making an appearance at one of Vienna’s biggest autumn events, the Wiener Kaiser Wiesn – as the only international gastronomy partner! 🍺🇭🇺

For 18 days, the Balaton Lángos stand is bringing a taste of Hungary to Vienna – and showing visitors that Lake Balaton is so much more than a summer destination.

🍇 Have you ever tasted w**e that isn’t quite w**e yet?

For a few special weeks after the grape harvest, freshly pressed grape juice begins to ferment – but hasn’t yet become w**e. In Hungary, we call it murci: fresh, fruity, slightly sparkling and something you can only experience at this time of year.

And on 3 October, Balatonlelle celebrates it. 🍷🍂

At the Murci Gastro Festival, wander between the w**e cellars and gastro stops of Kishegy and taste fresh grape must and murci from this year’s harvest, alongside South Balaton w**es and local flavours – from homemade cheeses and jams to seasonal specialities.
