An astonishing 500 Broad-billed Sandpipers were seen by both Márton and Dániel with their groups while enjoying great birding in the Danube Delta and the surrounding Dobrudja area recently in Romania.

Shorebirds were not the only highligts of course, as great views were obtained of most of the area's specialties including flocks of Rosy Starling and the scarce Woodchat Shrike.

We had great birding on our week long Hungary-Slovakia scheduled tour, despite the weather being a bit tricky on one or two days. We saw ten woodpecker and eight owl species, a good range of raptors, including Saker Falcon, Lesser Spotted and Eastern Imperial Eagles, good views of Little Crake, displaying Great Bustards, Great and Jack Snipe and three species of Locustella warblers.

Our inaugural Mole-rat tour in Romania was a great adventure despite the unseasonally cold weather. On this video you can see the endemic Mehely's Blind Mole-rat as it is looking out of its hole. Amazing creatures and a very special tour inedeed.

Our Bears and Birds tour is going well and despite cold weather in mid April the Capercaillies are already on the hight of their lekking and the snow is almost fully gone from the lekking area. Guests enjoying the show for sure! Images were taken during the tour by our guide Ferenc Alpár-Gothárd.

Last week we had a - hopefully - last spell of winter for this season in Transylvania. Although, getting to the hides were definitely more challenging than usual, seeing bears in snow always feels special. Preparation works started early this year at the bear hides, thus the bears are already actively visiting the sites and the first photography groups this year are enjoying their time soon in the Hargita region.

Booking is open for 2026 tours and we still have some available places on our bear photography tours as well.

Next week is already April and our shorebird hide is in operation! Common Redshanks, Black-tailed Godwits, Ruffs, Black-winged Stilts are already regular around the hide.
