Stay safe
It happened to me, but hope won’t with you.
7 pm on Friday 7th May 2 Indonesian men followed me from the beach to steal my iPhone.
I was driving scooter with my 5 yo son who sat behind me and hugged me. My phone was in my short’s pocket. It was a chilled drive in a flow of other bikes and cars - the street was quiet busy. And when I was just to turn to gang on the right they beeped to me as if they were going around me, so I stopped to avoid accident.
The one on the back pinсhed my son and pulled out my phone. I screamed and at least 7 people including 2 securities of Folie restaurant and bank saw it. All were shocked with what happened and did nothing. Paralysed. So they just kept going same like they did, chilled.
I won’t complain how complicated it is actually to stay focused and block all accounts in this state. Just hope, that one day there will be an option to call a secret number so they are blocked automatically until you come back to them in normal state. The best is if the stolen device could explode at that moment...🙄.
There are a couple of tips I can give by passing through this situation:
- use SIM card with registration under your name (otherwise you won’t be able to block it)
- If you have TELKOMSEL note that the main office is not “plaza”, you need to go to the office at renon. Do not make my mistake - travelling in Denpasar without internet on. And do not go to the office at all if your stolen SIM card was not registered under your name. The only solution that they can offer - to buy a new sim card for 375.000 idr (I found same plan for 100.000 later at the shop.) They don’t have internet for customers in the office, even if you say that need it to find way back home 🤯.
- When you change the passwords don’t forget to lock tokopedia/go jek and other accounts that include you personal data.
