An excellent train system links all the main cities on Java, including Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, Probolinggo (for Mt Bromo) and Ketapang (the ferry terminal for Bali). Trains are cheap, comfortable and air-conditioned, the ideal way to get around. Bookings are computerised and can be made up to 90 days in advance (although sometimes less than this). Indonesian trains run on narrow-gauge 3' 6" tracks, but are pretty fast and usually very punctual.

CIRAHONG BRIDGE
2 Cirahong Bridge (Jembatan Cirahong), Ciamis, West Java. Combined railway and road bridge, built during the Dutch colonial time in 1893. The 202 metres long bridge has a unique design, with trains riding on top of the bridge, and road traffic below. As the bridge is narrow, cars can only pass the bridge from one direction at a time.
