💦 The most mystical waterfall in Bali? Tourists share unusual stories
🌿 In central Bali, in Gianyar area, there is a hidden waterfall called Temesi. It was officially opened to tourists only in April 2024. Before that, only local villagers knew about it.
Today, the entrance fee is 30,000 rupiah. It takes about five minutes to walk from the parking area, and around 30 minutes by car from Ubud.
💧 In Indonesia, waterfalls are called air terjun — a useful word to remember. In Bali, many waterfalls don’t have big signs or tourist parks around them. Temesi is different: it is already on the map, but it is still quiet.
There are no big crowds or noisy cafés — just falling water, natural rock pools, and thick green jungle.
🌊 For local people, this is more than just nature. Rivers and springs in Bali are considered sacred, and waterfalls are seen as spiritual places. Temesi is sometimes called “magic baths.” According to local stories, the water can cause visions or make emotions stronger.
The village head, I Ketut Branayoga, says that five heavenly beings live in this area. Some villagers connect this belief with recent reports of visitors going into trance near the waterfall.
✨ One story is about a young woman who suddenly froze near the water. She later said she saw a beautiful figure with a strong aura who “asked” her not to leave. In the past week, local authorities reported two more similar cases.
For the community, this is not shocking news — but a sign of the place’s spiritual power.
🏞 Temesi is being developed by local residents. About 50 million rupiah from the village budget was used to build a path and basic facilities. The waterfall is open daily from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Visitors are often guided by locals — not only for safety, but also to learn more about Balinese culture.
