today Dec 7, 2015.. another focus group discussion was held in Jakarta with Indonesian sea transport department, immigration directorate general, custom directorate general, tourism department, us and some other stake holders in yachting and cruising industry to finalize the new regulations to ease up the procedures for visiting yachts to Indonesia... most of them are good, several issues are still discouraging.. hope the next discussion will be better before it is finalized

Indonesian Government is seriously look at the potency of Indonesia as the main yachting and cruising playground... on Aug 19 in Bali, we joined a workshop to develop this particular tourism development... then on Aug 21 in Jakarta, we contributed on another discussion in the Custom head office of new custom regulation to support yachting and cruising development.... next we aim to talk directorate general of sea transport...

Following to our latest post in regard to temporary import procedure for yacht that will be replaced with where yacht shall have "Carnet" or "ATA Carnet". ATA is the acronym of French and English words Admission Temporaire / Temporary Admission. It seems this system is familiar in Europe where people from one country can visit different countries in Europe with their cars without having to process temporary import. Again, until this stage the regulation has not been issued yet, but it will come.

A pre advise for yachts coming to Indonesia...New custom system will be in placed for visiting yacht to Indonesia by next year. Presently, all yachts visiting Indonesia shall be temporarily imported then when the yachts are departing, they shall report and re-export the yacht.... but this system is found not followed by all the yachts.. some of them just leave Indonesia including those who joined yacht races to Indonesia.. this caused the tourism department as the guarantor is obliged to pay. The government is formulating a system where every yacht visiting Indonesia shall put sort of guarantee in their country and in the first port of entry, they'll get a book, they have to make a report to local custom in every port until they leave Indonesia... how would be the procedure and when exactly this new system is going to be implemented will be announced later. Is this better or not.. I guess we have to wait until we read the regulation.

Seems the new government is serious this time to work on Indonesian marine tourism including visiting yacht to Indonesia policies. A couple month ago, I was asked by the Director of Ship and Seafarer to make a report about it and today Benoa Harbor Master held a meeting to discuss this matter too... the target to have a new regulation and policies by next year, we'll see...
