Hindus worship statues, Hindus worship stones, Hindus worship idols.
The sentences above are some of the opinions of our brothers and sisters who do not understand Hinduism.
Hinduism is an art religion. In simple terms, art can be interpreted as the result of creation and feelings which are expressed in form, sound, etc.
Which can give happiness to the heart and life.
Therefore, through works of art such as statues or others, Hindus devote their beliefs and feelings to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa.
Through this work of art, Hindus concentrate more on worshiping the infinite greatness of God and concentrate more on worshiping God who is unmanifest, unthinkable and unimaginable by this limited human mind.
If taken as an example in everyday life.
When we are in a long distance relationship with a partner.
Of course we will not be able to see it directly so we will vent and express our love, for example through the photo.
So does that mean we love a photo? certainly not.
That's because of our limitations to be able to see it directly so that photos become our medium / intermediary to be able to feel closer to it.
So like that, the result of human limitations who are unable to imagine the form of God when they want to worship Him.
God embodied in a work of art such as a statue.
And during prayer when Hindus are seen worshiping the statue.
In their deepest hearts they don't say "Oh statue .." but in their hearts what is called is God.
So the statue is only as a medium of worship, as a means of concentration to devote all the attention, thoughts and praises of Hindus to God😇
