04/04/2019

Dreamland Beach is among the collection of ‘hidden’ beaches of Bali: stretches of white sand secluded by limestone cliffs that line the rugged coastline of the southern Bukit Peninsula.

The beach became highly accessible following the mega development of the Pecatu Graha and Pecatu Indah Resort projects that, at the turn of the millennium, transformed the 400Ha hilly terrain into the ‘New Kuta’, with Klapa Beach Club, Resorts and the New Kuta Golf course onsite.

Despite rampant development over its limestone landscape, Dreamland Beach retains much of its rugged charm on the sand, particularly for beachgoers, day-trippers and surfers who enjoy some of Bali’s best reef breaks near the shore and close paddle outs to the neighbouring world-class reef breaks, namely Balangan up north and Impossibles down south (both for advanced riders). On the sand, you can choose deck chairs and parasols for rent, or enjoy a cheap massage.

Expect some flotsam and jetsam during the wet season with westerly winds (usually between October through April), as well as the common crowds over the local holidays and mid-year school breaks. Some sections of the beach are swimmable, but further out the currents are strong. Stay on for the dramatic sunsets.

Tibumana Waterfall is one of the must visit waterfalls for the explorers. Located in Apuan Village, Susut District, Bangli Regency, just an hour drive from Ubud and two hours from Kuta.

Tibumana Waterfall is a serene spot for all those who want to enjoy the forest atmosphere. To get there, it is recommended to bring someone who knows the area pretty well.

Bangli is host to mountain lakes and streams that make Bali so fertile. Numerous villages are scatted across a landscape of rice terraces, lush valleys and forests. These settings will treat you well along the way until you reach your destination.

At the car park, you will find a tiny shack where you need to pay IDR 10,000 as a contribution fee. You then need to follow a winding path with stairs for around 15 minutes until you arrive at the waterfall. The pathway is refreshingly beautiful.

There are vines creeping down the cliffs and small, colourful butterflies flying around. The lush, green jungle is filled with the sweet chirping of birds. The air is crisp and clear surrounded by a sense of purity in all directions.

Do pack your swimsuit and extra clothes and take a refreshing swim in the waterfall and reinvigorate your senses. You can stand right underneath the waterfall and let the hydro pressure do wonders for your body pains and stress relief.

The tranquillity is what draws people here, to idle for long hours of relaxation in solitude. It is one of those places where you want to come just to laze around to sit and marvel at nature’s beauty in isolation.

Crystal Bay is a beautiful white sandy beach located in Sakti Village, Nusa Penida Island on the north western coast facing Nusa Ceningan.

Crystal Bay is one of the few places in the world where one can see the awesome mola mola. One can be reasonably sure of a sighting during the season if two or three days of diving are allowed. And for sure, diving with the Sunfish is an experience that you will never forget.

The mola mola can reach a length of 3 metres and a weight of over 2,000 kg. They are usually found in deep and cold oceanic waters but occasionally they come inshore, in Bali between July and September.

Crystal Bay has relatively calm diving conditions. The water is crystal clear thus excellent for snorkelling. At Crystal Bay you will see schools of anthias and batfish which comes around periodically.

Besakih Temple known as Bali’s ‘Mother Temple’ for over 1,000 years and located in the Besakih Village, Rendang District, Karangasem Regency. sits 1,000 metres high on the southwestern slopes of Mount Agung. Besakih is an artistic and unique complex that comprises at least 86 temples which include the main Pura Penataran Agung (the Great Temple of State) and 18 others.

Besakih is the biggest and holiest of the island's temples and is surrounded by breathtaking and scenic rice paddies, hills, mountains, streams, and more.

To the Balinese, visiting the temple sanctuaries is a special pilgrimage. Mount Agung’s high location gives it an almost mystical quality. Many stairs lead up to the sacred mountain, leading to the many temples that vary according to types, status, and functions. Pura Besakih features three temples dedicated to the Hindu trinity.

Pura Penataran Agung in the centre has white banners for Shiva, the destroyer; Pura Kiduling Kreteg on the right side is with red banners for Brahma, the creator; and Pura Batu Madeg represents Vishnu, the preserver, with its black banners.

You can visit other temples in Pura Besakih, but many of their inner courtyards are closed to the public as they’re reserved for pilgrims. Pura Besakih is the only temple open to every devotee from any caste groups. This is because of its nature as the primal centre of all ceremonial activities.

Bingin Beach is located in the Pecatu Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency. It's only 15 minutes to Uluwatu Temple, one of the stunning tourist destinations of Bali Island.

Bingin is also situated close to the other famous surfing points such as Padang-Padang Beach, Impossible Beach and Dreamland Beach within swimming distance as well as Uluwatu, Suluban, and Balangan. Most of these can even be walked to and from during a beautiful low tide.

Walking along the then exposed coral riff is a breathtaking experience, and on its west coast white limestone cliffs contrast dramatically against the brilliant blue of the Indian Ocean lapping along its pristine coastline.

Bingin Beach area also known as "Bukit" and Bukit means "Hill" in Indonesian(Bahasa), to Bingin Beach can be reached within 45 minutes from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and 1,5 hours from Ubud.

Tirta Gangga is located in the Ababi Village an approximate 75km east of Denpasar. The complex is a cool retreat in the eastern highlands, perched on the south-eastern slope of the island’s highest mountain, Mount Agung.

The Tirta Gangga complex was built around the same time as the Taman Soekasada Ujung, another site located near the coast and 8.5km south in the Tumbu Village. Tirta Gangga, like its sister royal bathing complex, consists of tropical gardens, wading pools, fish ponds, and fountains.

The Tirta Gangga royal water garden is a favourite retreat in Karangasem Regency, east Bali. It was built in 1946 during the reign of the late Raja/King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem (1887 - 1966). Tirta Gangga saw a series of restorations following the destructive hot showers of volcanic ash from the 1963 Mount Agung eruption.

The lavish water gardens owned by the royal Karangasem family feature 1.2ha of pools, ponds and fountains surrounded by neatly cut lawns adorned with stepping stones, ornate statues and tropical gardens.

The area of north-eastern Bali at the Mount Batur caldera, and which encompassesPenelokan, Toya Bungkah, Batur, Kedisan, Abung, Songan and Kintamani villages, is known widely as just Kintamani.

Kintamani, Batur and Penelokan villages sit on the rim of the huge Batur caldera about 1,500m above sea level, and offer dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Batur and serene Lake Batur. Toyo Bungkah village is down at the lake edge.

As well as the lake and the volcano, Kintamani is home to Pura Ulun Danu Batur, one of Bali's key nine directional temples.

The people of this area are very traditional Balinese, please show the upmost respect to the people by not walking on their farm lands, entering their temples (unless you wish to pray). Woman should cover their legs to the knees. The people of this area are warm and friendly when visitors to this amazing area show them respect.

Pasih Uug (Broken Beach) is a unique beach located at Bunga Mekar Village, western part of Nusa Penida Island.

From the name itself ‘Pasih Uug’ (Balinese language) is defined as damaged beach. Although interpreted thus, this would be a tourist area that is truly unique and attractive.

Because this is a unique beach. You can't find a beach like this in any parts of this world, except on Nusa Penida island. There is a very deep clift with beautiful view, beautiful sunset, and if you are lucky, you can see a lot manta rays and some turtles on the sea. And there is a big natural pool with about a hundred meters in diameter.

Uluwatu Temple or Pura Luhur Uluwatu, one of six key temples believed to be Bali's spiritual pillars, is renowned for its magnificent location, perched on top of a steep cliff approximately 70 metres above sea level.

This temple also shares the splendid sunset backdrops as that of Tanah Lot Temple, another important sea temple located in the island's western shores.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is definitely one of the top places on the island to go to for sunset delights, with direct views overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and daily Kecak dance performances. Balinese architecture, traditionally-designed gateways, and ancient sculptures add to Uluwatu Temple's appeal.

Without a doubt, what makes Uluwatu Temple spectacular is its cliff-top setting at the edge of a plateau 250 feet above the waves of the Indian Ocean. 'ULU' means the ‘top’ , 'lands end' or the ‘tip’ and 'WATU' means a ‘stone’ or a ‘rock’ in Balinese.

Several archaeological remains found here prove the temple to be of megalithic origin, dating back to around the 10th century. There are two entrances to Uluwatu Temple, from the south and the north.

To Uluwatu Temple (by car via toll road) can be reached within 1.5 hours from Ubud and 1 hour from Denpasar.
