Labuan Bajo, August 19, 2026

It has been a few days since the M7.0 earthquake in Flores. No tsunami formed, and all our guests and crew are safe and accounted for.

This is the town today: flights are arriving normally, cafés are open, and Komodo boat tours are resting calmly in the bay. Sailing from Labuan Bajo has been officially reopened by the Harbormaster (Maklumat Pelayaran No. 05/MP-VIII/2026), following BMKG’s declaration that the tsunami potential is over.

So far, conditions remain calm and under control. We continue to monitor closely with BMKG and the port authorities, and full safety protocols remain in place.

Our hearts are with the people of Flores and all of NTT. We stand with this community today and every day.

18 August 2026 — Komodo Airport & Labuan Bajo Update

The rhythm of Labuan Bajo remains steady. Today, flights are arriving as scheduled, while airport transfers and local transportation are operating normally.

At the harbor, maritime activities have resumed, with vessels continuing their regular voyages into Komodo National Park.

For guests arriving this week for a Komodo luxury sailing or liveaboard journey, our crew is ready to welcome and assist you.

As of this update, our operations are running normally. We continue to monitor the situation and coordinate closely with the relevant authorities.

Day 2 — 16 August 2026, Labuan Bajo Harbor.

Boats from many operators are loading supplies, crews are back at their routines, and guests across the harbor are boarding for their trips.

Sailing operations from Labuan Bajo were officially reopened by the Harbormaster through Maklumat Pelayaran No. 05/MP-VIII/2026, after BMKG ended the tsunami early warning.

So far, activity at the harbor is proceeding calmly.

Komodo Luxury continues to follow official updates and conditions on the ground in Labuan Bajo.

Our thoughts remain with the communities affected across Flores and NTT.

15 August 2026 | Labuan Bajo, Indonesia

At 5:58 AM, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck at sea, approximately 200 km northeast of Labuan Bajo.

At Komodo Luxury, our crews immediately carried out full safety protocols. Every guest and every crew member is safe and accounted for. No tsunami formed.

This afternoon, the Harbormaster of Labuan Bajo officially reopened sailing under Maklumat Pelayaran No. 05/MP-VIII/2026, following BMKG’s declaration that the tsunami potential had ended.

Full safety protocols remain in place across our operations, and our captains continue to closely monitor sea and weather conditions around Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park.

This evening, Komodo Luxury vessels returned to the water. We sail again.

With gratitude to our guests for their trust, to our captains, crews, and guides for their calm and professionalism, and to the authorities for their swift response.
