Bali, a small island in Indonesia that is world-famous, is not only famous for its beautiful beaches or its eye-pleasing rice fields, but also for one thing that makes tourists feel at home: the friendliness of its people.

Have you ever wondered why Balinese people are so friendly, polite, and rarely involved in criminal acts such as stealing, compared to other regions?

The answer is simple, but deep: customs and beliefs.
Balinese people live in a very strong customary system, called "desa adat" — here every good or bad deed is not only judged by state law, but also by village rules and most importantly, by the law of karma.
