Pomelo brings together a unique group of individuals with a shared vision to get off the well-worn path, support local communities, learn, and explore. Each of our trips are designed to make a positive impact on people we visit, and help you live a more wholehearted life. We provide experiences you won’t find anywhere else; no generic follow-the-leader packages here. We rely on local connections a

nd the expertise of our team to get you to places that amaze and interact with cultures that will change the way you see the world. Small Groups
Often travelers make meaningful friendships on their journey. With that in mind, our trips are designed to facilitate the formation of new bonds between people and cultures that couldn't be formed anywhere else. We keep our groups small, usually less than 10, always less than 12. This allows us to indivuidualize your experience, opening the beauty of travel, without the hassle of a huge group. Support Local Communities
We’re committed to keeping things local on our trips. The places we visit are more than just destinations; we find ourselves going back because of the friends we make there. By supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses, we help improve the quality of life and opportunities available to those who live there. There can be damaging effects from irresponsible tourism on local communities. We’re mindful of this, and created Pomelo with the welfare of local communities in mind. As the people and places call out to our hearts, we’re dedicated to ensuring our trips positively impact those touched by tourism. Sustainable, Helpful Solutions
Often volunteer projects are included in our itineraries. Each project we work on is designed to positively support the ecosystem, health, agriculture, spirituality, and economies of the communities we visit. We work diligently to assess and meet needs, not based on our own western assumptions, but rather the needs of the local peoples. Being mindful of cultural subtleties, we hope you’ll help us make a real impact. To maintain the integrity of our volunteer programs, we work with locally based organizations and village leaders to help determine what projects are offered.

“Luang Prabang was the perfect destination to traipse around idly … I don’t know the Luang Prabang of yesterday. However, I do know that policies are being implemented to foster foreign investment in its tourism and culture sectors. Hopefully, new investments won’t change the delightful charm of the town. But the prospect of change served as a reminder to me that the Luang Prabang I experienced this year was special. It’s a special place that treats you well, even when you do nothing but show up.”

Wonderful Copenhagen, 1953.

Artist - Viggo Vagnby (1896–1966)

Commissioned by The Tourist Association of Copenhagen.

This iconic poster is widely considered the most famous piece of Danish travel advertising ever created. It perfectly captures the “Hygge” spirit, that uniquely Danish sense of cozy, safe, and communal well-being.

The poster isn’t just a nice illustration, it’s based on a real-life event.

A family of ducks famously stopped traffic in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen. A police officer halted cars, cyclists, and pedestrians to let the ducklings cross safely.
