Retired and travelling full-time for over 7 years, Karen originally set off from California with her partner to find a new country to call home… but somewhere along the way, they realised the journey itself was the dream 💛

Now travelling solo, she’s explored 66 countries (and counting) and still has that same sense of excitement for what’s next.

From hiking breathtaking landscapes to capturing moments through photography and trying local dishes wherever she goes… she’s fully embracing every part of the adventure 🌍

Bali with Ladies Who Travel – August 2026 

I’ve had a few messages about our Bali trip lately, so I thought I’d share a little more about it.

This is going to be such a beautiful, relaxed week — think a mix of wellness, connection, culture, and a little bit of indulgence.

If you’ve been thinking about doing a trip like this but don’t have someone to go with… this is exactly what Ladies Who Travel is all about. Most of our ladies come solo and end up leaving with new friendships.

Bali is also a really lovely “first” trip if you’ve never travelled in a group before — it’s easy, welcoming, and such a great place to slow down and reset.

✨ Meet Christine ✨

67 | Sydney

Christine is not your average traveller… she’s a solo motorcycle adventure traveller who quite literally rides her way around the world 🏍️💫

Whether she’s shipping her own bike overseas or finding one locally, Christine documents every journey — the roads, the landscapes, the history, and most importantly, the people she meets along the way.

In 2025, she rode solo through 14 countries across the UK and Europe.
In 2024, she crossed the USA and Canada twice over three months.
And closer to home, she continues to explore Australia on two wheels.

Next up? She’s heading back to the USA… and in 2027, planning an epic ride through New Zealand’s South Island followed by several months exploring Australia 🇦🇺

In between all of this, Christine is part of the “sandwich generation” — balancing grandkids, family, and life — while also being an artist, writer and storyteller 🎨

Oh, and she can cut hair and give you a makeover along the way too 💇‍♀️😉

After the official tour wrapped up in Morocco, a few of the ladies weren’t quite ready to say goodbye… so they took a couple of extra days to explore Essaouira.

This relaxed seaside town on Morocco’s Atlantic coast is such a contrast to the hustle of the medinas – think ocean views, fresh seafood, whitewashed buildings with blue shutters, and a constant salty breeze. It’s slower, calmer, and seriously pretty.

The perfect way to end an unforgettable trip 💙

Last day of our official Ladies Who Travel tour, and we ended it somewhere pretty special… Aït Benhaddou 🤍

This ancient fortified village (ksar) sits along the old caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech and is one of Morocco’s most iconic sights. Built from traditional earthen clay, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and has been the backdrop for films and series like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

We wandered through its narrow pathways, took in the incredible views of the surrounding desert landscape, and soaked up the history of a place that has stood for centuries.

Such a memorable way to finish our first Morocco adventure together 🇲🇦✨

I just wanted to take a moment to say a truly heartfelt thank you for everything you did on our very first Ladies Who Travel trip in Morocco.

You were nothing short of incredible. Your knowledge of Morocco is exceptional, but what really stood out to me was your patience, kindness, and the genuine care you showed to every single person in the group. You handled everything with such grace, even in moments that weren’t always easy, and that did not go unnoticed.

This trip meant so much to me personally, and having you as our guide made all the difference. I felt so proud knowing you were leading our very first tour — I honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

I truly hope this is just the beginning. I would absolutely love to work with you again in creating another amazing Ladies Who Travel itinerary next year, and hopefully for many years to come.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. You are so special, and I feel incredibly grateful that our paths crossed.

We spent a night in the Sahara staying at Palmeras y Dunas, located in Merzouga on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes — one of Morocco’s most well-known desert regions.

The camp offers a mix of traditional desert experience with modern comforts, including private tents with proper beds and ensuite bathrooms.

Getting there is part of the experience, and once at camp, there’s the chance to try sandboarding, watch sunset and sunrise over the dunes, and enjoy a group dinner followed by local music around the fire.

Exploring the Fes Medina yesterday and wow… what a place 🤯

The Medina of Fes el Bali is one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world, with over 9,000 narrow streets and alleyways — and around half of them are dead ends. It’s basically a giant maze… and very easy to get completely lost.

So we did the smart thing and headed in with a local guide, which made all the difference. Not only did we actually know where we were going (most of the time 😅), but we also learned so much about the history, craftsmanship and daily life inside the Medina.

Between the souks, leather goods, ceramics, spices and textiles… let’s just say there was plenty of shopping happening 🛍️ Some of the ladies showed incredible restraint… others not so much!

It was busy, chaotic, fascinating and unlike anywhere else — definitely one of those must-do experiences in Morocco.

First night in Fes done right ✨

We spent the evening at Dar Chadia, a traditional Moroccan home, where we were welcomed in for a home-style dinner and cultural experience.

The night included multiple courses of delicious Moroccan food, live music, henna, and (of course) a bit of dancing once everyone got into the vibe 💃

If you’re coming to Fes, this is the kind of experience I’d highly recommend adding to your itinerary.

This morning we left Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and after a short 15-minute drive arrived at the incredible Volubilis 🏛️

Once a thriving Roman city, Volubilis dates back to around the 3rd century BC and is now one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Morocco — known for its beautiful mosaics, grand arches and sweeping countryside views.

We took a guided walk through the ruins, imagining what life would have been like here all those years ago… it’s pretty amazing seeing history like this up close.

Such a worthwhile stop, and a real highlight of the journey for many in our group ✨
