Galungan and Kuningan are two major Balinese Hindu festivals celebrating the victory of dharma (goodness) over adharma (evil). Galungan commemorates the time when ancestral spirits visit Earth, and Kuningan, celebrated 10 days later, marks their return to heaven after a period of offerings and prayers. Key observances include creating penjor (decorative bamboo poles), preparing offerings, visiting temples and family, and spiritual reflection.
