The interior of Toko Merah. Just like a normal royal family house, it looked so fancy. The furniture was glamourous. Toko Merah used to open for public when there was a Chinese event years ago. But now, it has never opened again.

Batik does not always come from Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java. This pattern called Batik Tasik comes from Tasikmalaya, small municipality from West Java. The philosophy of this pattern mostly grasses, animals, and nature. While the coloring mostly use blue, maroon, and brown.

This pattern of batik named Sido Mukti. It comes from small municipality in East Java. The basic pattern is bamboo plant, while the philosophy of wearing this pattern is to have peace (both inner and outer peace)

This batik pattern is called Sekar Jagad. It comes from Yogyakarta. In old Javanese literature, “sekar jagad” means “beauty”. Whoever wears this batik (usually woman), hope that her beauty will shine by wearing this batik pattern.

This pattern is well-known as Batik Kraton as we can only see this batik pattern worn by the ladies inside Kraton Yogyakarta. Initially, not everyone is allowed to wear this pattern, because it was intended only to be used by the Sultan and his family. But then that policy was removed, so everybody can wear batik pattern.
