Roccaporena is a small town in Umbria, famous for the rock of Santa Rita, which stands on the top of a hill. The story goes that Saint Rita of Cascia used to pray constantly on the top of the rock, and so the place has become an important place of pilgrimage for the devotees of Saint Rita.

The Wedding Ring of the Virgin Mary – Perugia, Italy

The Holy Ring (Italian: Santo Anello) is a sacred relic believed to be the wedding ring of the Virgin Mary, given to her by Saint Joseph during their betrothal. This revered relic is housed in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo in Perugia, Italy.

Made of a greenish chalcedony stone, the ring is not a traditional gold ring but a simple band that reflects the humility and purity of Mary. According to tradition, the ring was brought to Italy from the Holy Land during the Middle Ages and has been venerated for centuries as a symbol of marital fidelity, purity, and divine love.

The Holy Ring is kept in a beautifully crafted reliquary and is displayed to the public during special feast days and pilgrimages. It has become a significant destination for Catholic pilgrims, especially couples seeking blessings for their marriage.

Our group was watching The Festival of St. Peter and St. Paul in Burgos, Spain — known locally as “Fiestas de San Pedro y San Pablo” or simply “Los Sampedros” — is the biggest celebration of the year in Burgos, held around June 29, the feast day of the two saints. The festivities usually last for a week or more, filled with music, tradition, and community spirit.
