Palasari Parish began on September 15, 1940, coinciding with the celebration of Maria Pieta, Father Simon Buis SVD led 18 Catholic families from the Holy Trinity Parish, Tuka and 6 families from the Santa Maria Ratu Parish, Gumbrih in an exodus to West Bali, which is now known as Palasari Village.[2] Father Simon Buis pioneered the establishment of Palasari Parish and lived with the Palasari transmigrants until 1949. Then Father Blanken SVD continued the construction of the Palasari church, and the church (building) was inaugurated on December 13, 1958 by Bishop of Malang, Mgr. Albers, O.Carm. with the name of the patron of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.[1] In 1992-1994, the church was physically renovated during the leadership of Pastor Yosef Wora, SVD.
