The holy month of Ramadan has begun. There are a few things you should take into consideration when visiting heavily Muslim populated areas, such as Lombok.

Muslims will start fasting from around 3.30am until sundown. So please be considerate when eating and drinking during the day. Try to eat in private or in restaurants that have shutters.

Be patient with those fasting. It takes it's toll physically and mentally.

If you have a tour guide or driver for the day, allow time at the end of the day to break their fasting.

Avoid wearing just bikinis and being shirtless in the streets,

Ramadan is not just fasting from food, but drinks, ci******es, impure thoughts and cravings.
