Do you want to know Why the Pulai trees(Alstonia scholaris) were chosen as the street trees around Borobudur temple?

Long long time ago, a first Buddha named Tanhankara attained enlightenment under this pulai tree.

So, When the Borobudur temple was built, this sacred tree was also carved into one part of the relief.

In this way, the pulai trees became a symbol of Borobudur temple as one of the heritage trees.🥰

Thus, The pulai tree is a native species of Indonesian origin.

For the above reasons, the Pulai trees were selected as street trees near Borobudur Temple in 2021, as a result, you can now see lush pulai trees when passing near the temple.

This sacred tree is planted around JB's swimming pool too. If you are lucky, you can smell the white flowers and sweet scent of this pulai tree.🥰
