Ijen Crater sulphur lake update 08/01/2023

Regarding increasing activity in Ijen Crater due to heavy rain, the water level on the lake is rising and flooded the sulphur gas source. The blocked access of sulphur pipe turns the gas into a dangerous gas which caused coming down to blue fire source is closed temporarily.

Visitors are allowed to visit Ijen on the top area for sulphur lake view ppint and obligated to wear gas mask on site.

Mount semeru eruption goes toward southeast route with the same lava stream flowing like previous eruption on December 2021. Fortunately this time not much catastrophe victims as the lava goes toward the same stream.
