I’d like to say this is just for bants, but…

Most sources say it is ‘typically’ considered safe to visit Komodo island while on your period… these same sources encourage you to let your ranger know about it. (But why if it’s safe?!… doesn’t fill me with confidence)

You can’t enter the island without a local ranger, they carry big sticks (that aren’t gonna stop an angry Komodo dragon in my opinion.. but they’re the rules)

The saliva of a Komodo dragon is venomous.. and they have been known to attack & even k*ll people.. they’re naughty, big & powerful animals.. absolutely not to be under estimated! But to see them was AMAZING!!

Did you know, there’s only 3500 Komodo dragons on earth, 1700 on Komodo island and the remaining spread between 4 neighbouring islands, in Indonesia.

The national park is said to be closing to tourists in May 2025 to protect it from over tourism.. I’m not against it, as you can see how busy with boat trips this place can get.. and the little area of Labuan Bajo, on the mainland of Flores, the stop off for most people when visiting the islands is almost built solely around these trips.. the place is empty during the day while boat trips are happening.. not a bad thing but it does make me wonder whether they will open one of the other 4 islands with Komodo’s on when this one closes in May… maybe.

Anyway.. I was NERVOUS AF to go… but I survived even on 🩸… so don’t let this put you off.. just stay behind that big ranger stick when the dragon comes for you!

Meet the mighty Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest living lizard, found only on Indonesia’s Komodo Island!! 😮🦎🌏

We were so excited to see these guys up close! They are absolutely huge!! They are also highly venomous so keep your distance people and follow the guides at all times 😅‼️

We visited the park as part of our 4D3N tour from Lombok to Flores, however, you can also visit on a day trip directly from Flores if you don’t want to do the overnight tours ☺️
