𝕍𝕠𝕠𝕕𝕠𝕠 𝕃𝕚𝕝𝕪 𝘈𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘪

This flower is part of the co**se family, Araceae species. It is native to SE Asia. It's unusual to have 2 flowers next to each other. The first picture shows one already open and the other still closed.

They are known as co**se flowers because of the odor (stench) they omit, which attracts insects. At the time the first picture was taken, the smell was awful from early early until mid afternoon 🥴🤢.
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜!

The second flower opened the following day, luckily with no more stench, dead animal smell!

We have actually had many bloom in different places across our land. The rhizome of the plant stays dormant underground for a period of time.

Within the flower it has both female and male parts. In the second picture, the female part is at the bottom (red & white) and the male above (yellow). The plant produces a single leaf which looks a bit like a palm (pic 4).

The Amorphophallus name is in Greek, meaning “shapeless pen*s” 😂

For last week (on & off) we have been trying to make a 4 post bed.

We finally finished it a couple of days ago 😁
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠?

It was all done by hand. Wood was sourced from the river, so no trees were cut down. Our circular saw is broke so Heri had to hand saw each piece of wood 💪. It is put together with a mixture of nails and bolts.

Thought it was about time to update on building our family bungalow.

We're nearly there!
1st: toilets in, just need to put in the sink and hand rails
2nd: outdoor shower area - need to buy shower
3rd: video of the space with the mezzanine. Bed base being made. Need to finish the bamboo wall

This is a common bronze keelback snake Dendrelaphis pictus or D. kopsteini

This is a slender, non venomous snake. It's diurnal so you can see it out in daylight. It's also arboreal so likes spending time in trees and around gardens and water.

It feeds on Frogs 🐸 and lizards 🦎 which we have plenty of in our garden.

1 𝔻𝕒𝕪 𝔼𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕣𝕖𝕜

I joined my friend .arizzona for part of her private 2 day trek.

Unfortunately we didn't see any Orangutans on that day (but she did on her second day), but we saw lots of other wildlife:
insects 🐛🦗,
plants and fruits
trees 🌳🌳
fungi 🍄
Reptiles 🦎🐸
We learnt about some local plants used for medicine and about the trees. We got to ask our senior guide about his training, former job with the national park and his interests.

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙠𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩. Wildlife in wild, sometimes you get to see it, sometimes not!

Well of course they carry them! They tie them together and carry them from their heads!
