Sumatra is the best surfing ground in Indonesia and probably in the whole world. The constant swells originating far in the southern Indian Ocean, in the stormy "Roaring Forties", travel up north thousands of miles loosing strength and gaining period. When they reach the tropical islands off Sumatra's western coast, situated right at the Equator where the winds are very light (the "doldrums"), the

y break over coral reefs shaped by those same waves over many millennia. These unique conditions of constant swells with long periods, light winds and perfectly shaped coral reefs, originate the best waves in the world. PERFECT GLASSY BARRELS are the most common surfing conditions around here. And as if this wasn't enough, the weather in these hundreds of Sumatran islands is beautiful for humans, with both air and sea water temperatures varying between 25-30º C / 75-85º F all year round. Desert white sandy beaches surrounded by coconut trees and crystal clear water complete the paradisiac scenery. This is really a surfing paradise with wave options for all levels and tastes.
