21 Day Crossing Borneo. It is started in Pontianak, West ends in Balikpapan the East Coast. It offers full adventure; bus riding, river boating, and jungle trekking where the journey presents ultimate scenery of the most rugged island in the globe. It is a special interest program for active and energetic travelers organized by experienced people. This program occupies strength of rally on the hard road, challenging rapids of Kapuas Rivers and Mahakam Rives, and a high level of fitness, adventurous spirit and strong sense of determination. Do you want to join me? Learn the following experience of the real adventure. Jungle trekking starts from Tanjung Lokang goes trough nowhere in 6-7 days with the Dayak Guide leads us to end the tour in a small village Muara Ubung. The tour starts at about 8 AM and ends at about 5 PM. Crossing Borneo Experiences (1). Day 1 Pontianak You can arrive in our joining hotel, as today there are no planned activities visiting Grand Mosque Jami’, Qadariah Palace, Equator monument, and eldest Buddhist temple in right on the bank of the Kapuas river. (2). Day 2 Pontianak – Post 1 (BLD) Departing 07.00 by public bus it takes 7 hours, bus air-conditioned bus to Post 1 is the first District Capital after ± 7 hours bus ride. Post 1 is situated right on the banks of Kapuas river, wherein the evening time of day 2 enjoys the scenery of the River Traffic in Junction of Melawi and Kapuas river. Enjoy the sound of K-TV and a floating coffee shop near the hotel where the tourists stay in. (3). Post 1 – strength trial – Post 1 (BLD) After breakfast in the hotel 08.00 by public transport, it takes 2 hours by van and arrives at the point of strength trial. It is a giant rock like the eyes rock in Australia. bus air-conditioned bus to Post 1 is the first District Capital after ± 7 hours bus ride. Post 1 is situated right on the banks of Kapuas river, wherein the evening time of day 2 enjoys the scenery of the River Traffic in Junction of Melawi and Kapuas river. (5). Post 1 – Post 2 Putusibau Departing 11.00 by public bus it takes 19-20 hours, travels over the equator area through the rubber, palm oil plantation. Arrive in Putusibao overnight in Putusibau (6). Day 4 Putusibau. It is the right moment to organized entry permits and completing requirements in the authority of the National Park Betung Karihun. To release your tired some Putusibau is a place for a city sightseeing before continuing our journey tomorrow morning. (7). Day 5 Putusibau-Nanga Bungan (BLD) Motorized boat from Putusibau to Nanga Bungan is unpredictable, depends on the strength of the current. At about midday the bout has to cross rapid an absolute point to take off the boat, called Hororoi, having crossed it is the time for lunch. If the water level is low, from Horori up to Tanjung Lokang there are places take of and push the boat, (real jungle boating). (9). Day 7 Tanjung Lokang (BLD) Jungle boating is now finished. The trekking starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM. The latest trip was July 2008. (11). Day 17 Tiong Ohang – Long Bangun that day, speedboat riding from took us from Tiong Bu’ u to Long Bagun. I was lucky, according to the local people the water level was moderate, we got a speedboat of 26-seat capacity, and was extremely nice. We went passing District Long Pangai, Long Tuyuk, and Data Suling passed Riam Panjang (long rapid) where the current was so strong and the rapid was so extreme. It was the extreme point ever in Mahakam River. However, prominent boatman went on the rapid safely to Long Bagun. 1:00 PM we took on a waterbus and spent overnight on it. We stay overnight on it to prevent comfortable space on it. It took 3 days from Long Bagun to Samarinda. (12). Day 18 -19 Long Bagun - Tenggarong That day, the tour proceeded down the Mahakam River on the houseboat. The boat left Long Bagun District at 7:30 AM down the districts; Long Merah/ Rukun Damai for the water was little bit shallow deltas divide the river into 4 streams. 2:45 PM we arrived at Data Bilang district more civilized and more people, better floating houses everywhere in the river we arrived at Long Iram at 5:30 PM, and proceeded to Mellak at 11:30 PM, overnight in the houseboat. The next day 6:30 AM I felt being in the more civilized or even moderns world, Kota Bangun, the capital city of Kutai Barat Regency. The Boat Proceeded down the Mahakam before to Tenggarong, Capital city of Kutai Kertanegara Regency. Tenggarong offers alternatives to stay, to eat……………. Kumala Island is one of the places to visit, where a resort hotel in the Kumala resort is situated. (13). Day 20 Tenggarong – Samarinda after a night relaxing in the Tenggarong City, the tour proceeded overland to Samarinda. It took one hour by car. Samarinda is the busiest city in East Borneo. Bunch of experience is this evening. (14). Day 21 Samarinda – Balikpapan from Samarinda went down to Balikpapan overland by bus, and our tour Program is now finished. Sayonara.......

The Fact: What is it like? It is a full adventure. A very high level of fitness, adventurous spirit and a strong sense of determination are required to walk 6 to 8 hours in the wet, muddy and hilly. Nevertheless, the rewards to the effort are experienced the remotest place on the globe. It is well worth your effort, isn’t?
