**Mount Bromo Sunrise Trip - An Adventure Above The Clouds**

The Bromo trip is East Java's most iconic adventure. It starts in the middle of the night.

We pick you up from Malang or Surabaya or hotel near Bromo around 12:30 - 02:00 AM, then change to a private 4x4 Jeep to cross the famous sea of sand in the dark.

There are 3 main highlights:

**1. Sunrise at King Kong Hill / Penanjakan Viewpoint (2,770m).** Watch the sky turn from black to gold while Mount Bromo, Batok, and the highest peak in Java, Mount Semeru, appear one by one. On a good day, you will see a sea of clouds below you.

**2. Bromo Crater.**
Drive down to the sand sea and hike 250 steps to the crater rim. You can hear the active crater rumbling and see the sulphur smoke. It's raw and unforgettable.

**3. Whispering Sand**
Wide, windy desert and rolling green hills. Perfect for relaxing photos without the crowds.

The trip finishes around 9-10 AM, so you still have the rest of the day.

**What to bring:** Thick jacket, beanie, gloves, and a mask for the sand. No trekking skill needed, just bring warm clothes and an empty memory card.

IMPORTANT POINT: BROMO TOTALLY CLOSED

Starting from Saturday, September 12, 2026 until the undetermined time limit, the Mount Bromo Tourist Area is TOTALLY CLOSED from all entrances for tourist activities.

The reason:

1. The occurrence of forest fires in the Bromo area is spreading
2. The dry season makes vegetation & grass very dry
3. The potential of strong winds that accelerate the spread of fire
4. Thick smoke that interferes with visibility, mobility, and visitor safety
5. In order not to hinder the extinguishing process by the officers

**Semeru Jeep Lava Tour - Offroad Sensation at the Foot of the Highest Volcano in Java**

If Bromo has a Jeep Tour in the sea of sand, now Lumajang has the answer: **Semeru Jeep Lava Tour. ** Not climbing to the top of Mahameru, but an offroad adventure along the traces of the cold lava flow of Semeru in Pronojiwo District. This is a rising tourism in 2025-2026.

The area that used to be quiet and only passed by climbers, is now neatly organised and managed directly by local residents of Sarkawi. There are more than 150 units of Jimny / Taft 4x4 jeeps driven by young people and former local farmers. So besides being fun, joining this tour also helps the economy of the local residents.

Newest Route 2026 & Passed Spots

The Semeru Lava Tour path is not an asphalt road. You will be invited to cross 3 types of terrain at once: residents' garden land, black volcanic rocks and sand from the eruption, and water manoeuvring in the river.

There are 3 duration options:

**1. Short Track (4 KM / 2 Hours)**

**2. Long Track (7 KM / 3-4 Hours)** - Most favourite

**3. Sunrise Track (Starts at 04.30 Western Indonesia Time)**

For all packages, you will go through these 7 main spots:

**1. Sunrise Point Rawa Baung & Rice Fields**

The most epic start. You see the sunrise with the background of Mount Semeru that rises clearly, plus the expanse of green rice fields in front of it. The air is still very cold, so the moment of drinking coffee here is the best.

**2. Kali Kebo and Kali Tayeng**

This is the highlight. A river formed from the flow of cold Semeru lava. The sand is pitch black, big rocks are scattered. Totally different from ordinary rivers.

**3. Watu Stacked**

Piles of giant rocks that were carried away by the lava flood. This spot is now the most Instagramable photo spot.

**4. Lava Stream & Semeru Fortress**

The most challenging offroad track. Rock slopes, steep descents, and volcanic dust. This is where the driver will show the jeep's manoeuvring skills.

**5. Pronojiwo Pine Forest**

After the path is dusty, you enter the cool pine forest. Usually becomes a place to rest and take pictures.
