With the help of the community and foreign friends I have renovated my cinnamon warehouse into a coffee shop and my house into a home stay. All of the coffee beans are harvested from my farm located 30 minutes away from the store. Next, the beans are hand sorted and roasted over an open flame in small batches. Finally, the coffee is ground to order before hitting your cup. The result is a rich dar
k roast with a smooth finish. My name is Rolis and after University and years of hitch hiking around Indonesia, I came back to my home town in Kerinci to create projects that foster community growth. My first project is to create fair trade relations for cinnamon and coffee producers. I have started by creating relationships between farmers and the distribution chain. The more education farmers receive about the unequal distribution of wealth, the more we are able to shorten the supply chain and receive a fair portion of profits. I hope to facilitate the growth of the tourism industry for my community through my coffee shop, home stay and tour company, Kerinci Kultur. I believe with greater global recognition more opportunities can be created for the people of my home town.
