Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is a significant Hindu temple complex located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul, Bali. It's often referred to simply as the "floating temple" because its most iconic structure, the meru (multi-tiered shrine), appears to be floating on the lake's surface when the water level is high.
The temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of lakes and rivers. Balinese Hindus believe she is the goddess of water, which is a vital element for the island's famous subak irrigation.
