A new heritage plaque to honour Professor Michael J. O’Kelly will be unveiled on Sunday 15th March at 2.30pm at St. Ita's Community Hall. Abbeyfeale is tremendously proud of Professor Michael J O’Kelly and this celebration of one of our own is long overdue.

Professor O’Kelly (1915-1982) is best known for his excavation, conservation and restoration of the megalithic passage tomb and ancillary monuments at Newgrange. But that was only the pinnacle of this Abbeyfeale man’s remarkable achievements which encompassed over a dozen major excavations, greatly enriched the field of archaeological enquiry and exerted a lasting influence on the development of the discipline of archaeology in Ireland.

What a fantastic night we had at our Table Quiz @ The Cellar Bar in aid of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations! ☘️🎉

A huge THANK YOU to everyone in the community who came along, took part, bought raffle tickets, donated prizes, and supported the event in any way. Your generosity and enthusiasm made the night such a great success.

There was great fun, plenty of laughs, and some very competitive tables! 👏 A special well done to our winning team“The Dumbbells” 🏆💪 — a brilliant performance on the night!

We are incredibly grateful to all of our sponsors for their generous support. We truly couldn’t do it without you.

🍀 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVAL, ABBEYFEALE! 💚🇮🇪

Abbeyfeale is getting ready for another fantastic St. Patrick’s Day Festival, and we’re calling on our amazing community to help make it happen.

We’re looking for volunteers in the following areas:

🎨 Face Painters – Add colour and fun to the day.
🔥 Chef for the BBQ – Keep the crowds well fed.
🛍️ Stand Helpers/Managers – Support local stalls and keep things running smoothly.
🛠️ Set‑Up & Clean‑Up Crew – Help bring the festival to life (and wrap it up!)
🚦 Marshalls – Keep the parade and festival safe and organised.

If you can spare a little time, we’d love to have you on board. It’s a brilliant way to support the community and be part of something special.
