Avoca Tours

Avoca Tours Walking and Activities, Bike Hire and Gold Panning Avoca Tours wants you to experience the real cultural heritage Ireland has to offer.

We specialise in walking with Wonderful walks through Wicklow’s scenic towns and villages and the hills beyond. Combine this with visits to heritage sites, historic houses, gaols and gardens, Viking towns, fishing, film locations, craft demonstrations like hurley making, shillelagh making and Irish Coffee Making. Located in the village of Avoca where the BBC TV Series, ‘Ballykissangel’ was filmed

and where the original Avoca Handweaving Mill is still located. We have teamed up with many of the area’s accommodation providers to offer many of our walks and activities together as package stays. Visit our website www.avocatours.com. For all enquiries please email [email protected]

: This photo, submitted by RTM supporter Arthur Johnson, was taken in the fall of 1908 near Grafton, West Virginia. Cameras were so foreign during that time that two of the boys were afraid to be in the picture. They thought that the photographer was going to make them go to school!

Send your old mining photos to [email protected], and we’ll feature them in our weekly Throw Back Thursday campaign.
