🏆 P12 Colombia Adventure Race — 1st place with Vidaraid Adventure Team
What a race, and what a place to race in.
Exactly one week after crossing the finish line, I’m back in the west of Ireland sipping my Colombian coffee & reflecting on the 2 weeks of adventure we had in a very magical country. We won the race in 3 days 23 hours but the journey was a lot more- the training, the preparation & then arriving at the start line ready to give it our best as a team and of course the chill time after to soak it all up🥳
I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved as a team, this was my first race with these 3 lads who have been racing together for 13+ years. But what I’ll take away from P12 is much more than the result. The organisation & volunteers were exceptional and what they give back to local communities made the experience feel genuinely special and that we were part of it all.
Adventure racing is at its best when it connects you with a place and its people, and P12 did exactly that. Racing through Colombia, connecting with the landscape & people along the way, and experiencing the local culture made this race like an immersive cultural escape.
The mix of tropical forests, canyons, seriously hilly terrain, very long suspended foot bridges, abseiling, packrafting, biking, trekking, caving & some challenging navigation gave so much variety to keep us entertained, tested & exploring the country from many angles.
Big thanks to everyone who made P12 what it is — the organisers, volunteers, local communities and everyone behind the scenes.
