🏡 If you’re a first-time buyer, you can get help towards buying your first home.

The Help to Buy Scheme helps towards buying a newly built or a self-build home. It refunds income tax and Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT) you paid in Ireland over the 4 years before you apply.

To qualify:

✅You must be a first-time buyer (if you’re buying with another person, they must also be a first-time buyer)

✅The new home costs €500,000 or less

✅You plan to live there as your main home

✅Your qualifying mortgage is at least 70% of the property value

✅You’re fully tax compliant for the previous 4 years

You can get up to €30,000. The amount you get is the lowest of:

📌€30,000

📌10% of the property value, or

📌The income Tax and DIRT you paid over the previous 4 years.

Revenue can ask you to repay some or all of the payment if you don’t fulfil the requirements. ⚠️

You can apply for the scheme through the Revenue MyAccount service, if you're a PAYE worker. If you’re a self-assessed taxpayer, you apply through Revenue Online Service (ROS).

Did you know it’s the law that all children under 150cms or 36kgs must use a child car seat appropriate to their weight and height. In Ireland as many as 54% of child car seats are incorrectly fitted which can lead to serious injury or even death in a collision. Since the start of the service, the RSA’s ‘Check it Fits’ Service has checked over 70,000 child car seats and restraints in Ireland.

The Check it Fits service is quick, it’s easy, it’s free. On the day our experts will advise on how to fix any problem, demonstrate how to fit the restraint correctly and answer any queries participants might have. Our experts aim to put parent’s, grandparent’s and guardian’s minds at ease that their child’s car seat is safely and securely fitted in their car. Between 10:00am - 5:30pm

Worried about home heating costs this Autumn?🔥

Fuel Allowance helps with the cost of heating your home during the winter months. It's paid to only one person per household.

To get Fuel Allowance, you must live in Ireland and:

🧓Be aged 66 or over

🙍‍♀️Be under 66 and get a qualifying social welfare payment

🏠 Live alone or only with certain people, such as dependent children

💸Pass a means test

From September 2026, you can get Fuel Allowance if you’re getting the Working Family Payment (WFP) and meet the conditions. If you’re moving from Disability Allowance or Blind Pension into work, you can keep your Fuel Allowance for up to 5 years.

You can apply:

📝 Fill in the application form from your local Post Office, Intreo Centre or call 0818 200 400.

If you got the Fuel Allowance before, you don’t need to reapply unless your circumstances have changed.
