'The view from the kitchen window, the terrace, and the bedroom is simply breathtaking. West Cork is beautiful, and we had a wonderful time during our two weeks there. There are many excursion options, and you'll be delighted by the view every morning when you get up, and by the peace and quiet when you come home in the evening.'

The Aer India Memorial Ahakista on other side of bay from our self-catering cottage has a memorial. On 23/6 each year to remember those lost in the Aer India disaster - flight 182 from Montreal - London- Mumnai. 329 preople remembered in the beautiful garden overlooking the sea.
We remember 40 years later and often.

Sustainability is important for all businesses. At Dunmanus cottage we strive to be sustanable by:-
Providing a welcome pack of local foods and ask guest to shop locally,
Have a bee froendly garden with flowers and fruit trees,
drink fresh well water rather thank bring container,
use eco toilet paper as the bi-cycle sewage system preferes it,
asks guest to seperare waste in bins.
Enjoy nature on the doorstep and patio - walk, swim of just relax.

Wimbledon Ladys final today & i arrived in time to watch in TV in Dunmanus Cottage, West Cork. Remember Aunty Doll who built this house in 1960s, to return on holidays from her nursing job in London. Doll loved watching tennis on the black & white TV. Wimbledon was special with afternoon tea , strawberries + cream served by Flo. For some reason the local Garda used to call most afternoons during Wimbledon …& stay to end of matches. They were considered a bit odd in West Cork in 1970s to be watching tennis from London - now we watch in colour.

Mizen Head is about 20km west along the headland. The lighthouse and visitor centre is a great visit for all the family. Views are spectacular and on a clear day you can see Fastnet Lighthouse 9 miles out to sea.

Danmark the Danish Sail Training Tall Ship… magnificent under sail.

The beautiful Danmark training ship is due to be in Bantry Bay tomorrow, Sunday, around 18h00 and will remain in the bay for a few days. So between this and the Spirit of Adventure cruise ship tomorrow, there will be plenty of maritime activity in the bay!

Why not plan a spin West to Bantry tomorrow to see the ships and enjoy some lunch or dinner in one of our lovely restaurants or pubs and make the most of your Sunday in Bantry?

We love a good review at Dunmanus Cottage - 'Stunning location, very private but still close enough to Bantry for food shopping, restaurants etc. Very helpful host. The house is well equipped, has an extensive library of wonderful books for young and old. We had a beautiful week in West Cork - thanks Kay.
