K2 Base Camp team update

Today our thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragic avalanche on Broad Peak. We are keeping the missing climbers, their families, friends, guides and the rescue teams in our thoughts as search efforts continue in extremely challenging conditions.

We have also received an update from our own expedition team at K2 Base Camp.

We are very relieved to confirm that every member of the Pat Falvey Adventures team is safe, well, and in very good spirits. They were not affected by the Broad Peak avalanche and continue to make good progress on their journey. Due to the remoteness of the region, communication is limited, but we are grateful to receive these positive updates whenever a signal is available. (We got some images and videos to share)

The Karakoram is one of the world's most spectacular mountain ranges, but events like this are a sobering reminder of the risks faced by climbers, guides and high-altitude workers every day.

Please keep all those involved in your thoughts, and we hope for the best possible outcome for everyone affected. 🙏

K2 BASE CAMP REACHED!

Fantastic news from the Karakoram!

We're delighted to share that we've received confirmation from our team that everyone has safely reached K2 Base Camp! 🙏🏻✌️

This is a huge milestone on one of the world's most iconic trekking routes. Standing beneath the mighty K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth, is an unforgettable achievement and the reward for days of trekking through one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes on the planet.

Tomorrow, the team will take time to visit the Ger McDonnell Memorial, paying their respects to the Irish mountaineer who lost his life on K2 in 2008.

After that, the team will begin the journey back down the Baltoro Glacier to Askole, before travelling on to Skardu and eventually making their way home.

As communications improve and the team reaches a more reliable signal, we'll be sharing photos and videos from their incredible journey through the Karakoram, so stay tuned—there are some amazing moments still to come! 📸🏔️

Most importantly, everyone is safe, well, and in great spirits.

A huge thank you to our incredible Pakistani guides, porters and logistics team for looking after everyone every step of the way.

K2 Base Camp Expedition Update

One of the realities of trekking in the Karakoram is just how remote it is. Communication is extremely limited, and updates are few and far between, which makes every message we receive all the more special.

We're delighted to report that we've had word from our local team:

Our team has safely arrived at Concordia — one of the most spectacular mountain camps on Earth, where the Baltoro, Godwin-Austen, Vigne and Abruzzi Glaciers meet beneath the giants of the Karakoram.

Even better, we've received confirmation that everyone is doing well. Our local logistics team has spoken with Mushtaq, who reports that the entire team is in good spirits and continuing to acclimatise well.

A huge thank you to our incredible Pakistani support team for keeping us updated despite the challenging communications.

🏔️ SUMMIT SUCCESS – UHURU PEAK, 5,895m! 🇹🇿

They did it!

A huge congratulations to Mark and Margaret, who successfully reached Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa and the roof of the continent.

After days of trekking through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, climbing the famous Barranco Wall and making the long, cold midnight ascent from Barafu Camp, they stood together on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as the sun rose over Africa.

This achievement is a testament to their determination, preparation and resilience. The summit may last only a few moments, but the memories and sense of accomplishment will last a lifetime.

A special thank you to our outstanding guide Freddy and the entire mountain crew, whose experience, encouragement and care helped make this incredible journey possible.

Mark and Margaret are now safely making their way back down the mountain, reflecting on an adventure they'll never forget.

Congratulations on an outstanding achievement. Everyone at Pat Falvey Adventures is incredibly proud of you both.

🏔️ KILIMANJARO UPDATE – BARAFU CAMP (4,673m) 🇹🇿

The countdown to the summit has begun.

Our private Kilimanjaro team has safely arrived at Barafu Camp (4,673m), the final camp before the ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).

Over the past five days they've climbed through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert and conquered the iconic Barranco Wall. Now comes the moment they've been preparing for.

After an early dinner and a few hours of rest, they'll leave camp around midnight, climbing by the light of their head torches towards the highest point in Africa. It's a long, cold and demanding night, but one that will stay with them forever.

The entire Pat Falvey Adventures team wishes them clear skies, steady legs and the determination to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

We'll be thinking of them all the way to the Roof of Africa.

KILIMANJARO UPDATE

Another fantastic couple of days on the mountain for our Private Kilimanjaro Team.

Yesterday the team reached Barranco Camp (3,900m) after an incredible trek beneath the glaciers of Kibo and into the spectacular Barranco Valley.

This morning they tackled one of Kilimanjaro's most famous features – the Barranco Wall. While it looks intimidating from below, it's an exhilarating climb and one of the highlights of the entire expedition. The smiles at the top say it all!

They're now making their way to Karanga Camp (3,995m), another important step towards Uhuru Peak.

A huge thank you to our incredible local guide Freddy and the whole mountain crew, whose professionalism, encouragement and care make every step of the journey such a memorable experience.

Check out the video Freddy captured just after the team topped out on the Barranco Wall. It's a special moment and gives a real sense of the achievement and excitement of the day.

The mountain is treating the team well, spirits are high, and the adventure continues.

🏔️ KILIMANJARO UPDATE – SHIRA CAMP REACHED! 🇹🇿

Another great day on Africa's highest mountain.

Our July Team has successfully reached Shira Camp (3,610m) on the Machame Route. The weather has been kind, the team are in great spirits, and everyone is settling in well to the altitude.

Every step on Kilimanjaro is a journey of determination, teamwork and personal achievement. Today is another important milestone as they continue their climb towards the Roof of Africa.

Wishing Mark and Margaret continued strength, good health and clear skies for the days ahead.
